Part 6 Maintenance
Be sure to switch off the power to the PC-12 when changing the cleaning pads while cleaning the machine or the
platen or while cleaning the printing heads with head cleaner.
Never attempt to oil or lubricate the mechanisms.
Cleaning the Machine
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
Cleaning the Platen
If the platen becomes dirty, wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
Do not wipe the platen with head cleaner or alcohol.
Also, do not damage the surface of the platen during cleaning. Doing so may impair printing quality.
If Printing on the Platen Was Performed by Mistake
If the grime is allowed to remain, printing may be smudged or uneven. It may also become impossible for the machine to sense the media
width correctly. Follow the steps below to clean.
1
Apply cellophane tape on top of the grime and rub the tape
with your finger.
2
Slowly peel off the tape.
Repeat until the grime is removed.
Do not touch the blade area of the
media auto-cutter with your fingers.
Doing so may result in injury.
