Failures and their causes
Trouble: Centre is too hot
Cause:
a) The maximum value rendered in the speed load table is ex ceeded.
b) Viscosity of the lubric ant is too hi gh.
Trouble: Centre is burned down
Cause:
a) The centre hole of the work piec e is too sm all relative to the live
centre.
b) The bearing resistance is too high due to unsuitable lubricant.
c) The livecentre is braked down or even stopped due to contact wi th
holding devi ce or chips.
Trouble: Rupture of centre
Cause:
a) The centre borehole is not in true alignment with the axle.
b) The radial load i s too high.
c) Thework piece weight is exc eeded or the work piece is eccentrical ly
arranged.
d) The centre borehole is not deep enough.
e) The tailstoc k is not in true alignment with the main spindle axle.
