Bus Analysis
13.1 Software options (license key)
The R&S®HMO1002 can be upgraded with options / vou-
cher to trigger and decode serial buses.
HOO10/HV110:
The option HOO10 resp. the voucher HV110 can be used
to trigger and decode I
2
C, SPI and UART/RS-232 buses on
the digital channels (option logic probe HO3508 needed)
and on the analog inputs. This option allows the decoding
of two serial buses simultaneously.
HOO11/HV111:
The option HOO11 resp. the voucher HV111 can be used
to trigger and decode I
2
C, SPI and UART/RS-232 buses on
analog inputs only and it only allows the decoding of one
serial bus at a time.
HOO12/HV112:
The option HOO12 resp. the voucher HV112 can be used
to trigger and decode CAN and LIN buses on the digital
channels (option logic probe HO3508 needed) and on the
analog inputs. This option allows the decoding of two
serial buses simultaneously.
The options HOO10, HOO11 and HOO12 can be ordered
in combination with a R&S®HMO 1002 ex factory. The up-
grade voucher HV110, HV111 and HV112 can be activated
by a software license key (please refer to chapter 2.10).
The analysis of parallel and serial data consists of the fol-
lowing three basic steps:
Protocolconguration:(BUStype/protocol-specic
settings)
Decoding: (Display of decoded data / Zoom / BUS table)
Trigger: (Start / Stop / serial samples)

the BUS button in the VERTICAL section. This will open
a short menu where you can press the bottom soft menu
key B1 or B2. Additionally you can use the MENU button in

the respective BUS (B1 or B2).
Depending on the installes option use the soft menu key
BUS TYPE to choose from the following BUS types:
The serial bus analysis is performed with 1/8 of the sampling
rate.
Prior to the BUS conguration it is necessary to set the correct
logic level (threshold). Please refer to chapter 4.5. The default
setting is 500 mV.

The soft menu key CONFIGURATION allows you to invoke
a menu corresponding to the selected bus type. A menu
description can be found in the chapters of the respective
BUSconguration.ThesoftmenuDISPLAYSETUPisiden-
tical for all buses and allows you to select the decoding
format. You may choose from the following formats:
Binary
Hexadecimal
Decimal
ASCII
Use the soft menu key BITS to activate or deactivate the
display of individual bit lines (above the table display).
The last entry NAME in the VERTICAL menu opens a sub-
menu which allows you to enter a BUS name. This name
will be displayed on the gridandtheprintout.Yourrstop-
tion is to switch the display on (ON) or off (OFF). The next
option includes the menu item LIBRARY. After selecting
this option, you can use the universal knob to choose a
name from several suggestions. The EDIT LABEL key al-
lows you to enter a completely new name or to customize
the suggested name. You may enter up to 8 characters.

will then be shown in the display. The name is assigned to

key BUS TABLE allows you to activate or deactivate the list
view (blue highlighted). By default, the table is displayed at
