Installing the Moto r
Follow these procedures and recommendations to insta ll a TL-Series motor.
1. Allow sufficient clearances in the area of the motor for it to stay within its specified operating
temperature range.
Obtain the specified motor thermal rating by mounting the motor on a surface with heat
dissipation equivalent to an aluminum heatsink of the following dimensions.
Refer to Specifications on page 22 f or the operat ing rang e.
Do not install the motor in an area with restricted airflow, and keep other heat producing
devices away from the motor.
ATTENTION
Servo motors ar e not f or dir ect connection t o an ac power line.
Servo motors ar e designed f or connection to a servo dr ive that controls the appl ication
of ac power.
Failure to obse r ve th ese safety proce dur es could result in damage to the motor and
equipment.
ATTENTION
Do not strike the shaft, couplings, or pulleys with t ools during in stallation or removal.
Damage may occur to the motor bearings and the feedback device if sharp impact to the
shaft is appli ed during installation of couplings and pulleys.
Failure to obse r ve th ese saf ety procedur es could result in damage to the motor and its
components.
