Application Note

Plantguard and Trusted Software

The Plantguard and Trusted System Configuration Manager are identical programs. They are branded

and configured depending on an identity file. This also affects the SOE and Process Historian Collector

and the OPC Server configuration program, among others. If a workstation has both Trusted and

Plantguard software installed, or one is removed and the other loaded, this identity file needs to be

changed manually for proper operation. It is not removed on uninstalling software, because it is a

common reference file.

The workbench itself does not use the identity file, but keeps its own libraries and branding.

This document describes how to change the identity file.

TrustedTM AN-T80012 Plantguard and Trusted Software File location The identity file is ident32.dll, and is located in folder C:\Windows\System32. Both Trusted and Plantguard versions have the same name. The properties of the two versions are shown below (Trusted on the left and Plantguard on the right).

TrustedTM AN-T80012 Plantguard and Trusted Software To replace one brand with another permanently If a workstation with Plantguard software must be converted to be a Trusted workstation or vice versa: • Uninstall all existing Plantguard or Trusted software • Restart if requested • Delete the ident32.
