Chapter 5 Configuring FactoryTalk Historian

Each message logged to the FactoryTalk Diagnostics service contains
the following information:
Item name Description
Date/Time The date and time the message was recorded. The time is the local
time of the server. This is important to note if you are in a different
time zone than the server.
User Name The name of the user that performed or requested an operation
that generated the error message.
Note: If you plan to track user IDs in FactoryTalk Diagnostics for
auditing purposes, you must create identical user IDs in the
FactoryTalk Historian SE. Refer to the FT Historian SE System
Management Guide for information on creating user IDs in the
Historian server.
User Description The full name of the user.
Severity All messages are logged as Warning or Informational.
Audience Engineer is the default audience type for all messages.
Message text A description of the error that occurred.
Location The name of the computer where the diagnostic message was
generated.
Provider The name of the FactoryTalk product or subsystem that generated
the message.
To view the messages in FactoryTalk Diagnostics, run the
FactoryTalk Diagnostics Viewer tool. See the FactoryTalk
Diagnostics Viewer Help for more information.
To view messages stored in the Windows Event log, click Start >
Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer.
