The following subsections cover using the G88.2 finishing cycle for each
of the possible pockets.
Use the G88.2 pocket milling finishing cycle to finish a rectangular pocket
in a workpiece. This cycle is typically used to remove the finish allowance
that was l eft on the sides of a rectangular pocket during a G88.1 roughing
cycle.
The G88.2 block used to finish a rectangular pocket has this format:
G88.2 X__Y__Z__I__J__(,R or ,C)__P__H__L__F__;

XY
The coordinates thatspecify the centeroftherectangularpocket.
Z
The coordinate (along the plungingaxis)thatspecifies the bottomofthe
rectangularpocket. In incremental mode thisparameterspecifiesthedepthof
the pocketasmeasured fromthe startlevelto the pocketbottom. This
parametermustbe programmed.
IJ
The length oftherectangularpockets sides. I specifies the length ofthe side
parallel to the Xaxis. Jspecifies the length ofthe side parallel to the Yaxis.
These are unsigned incremental values.
Important: Itisassumedthat Iand Jareassigned in AMP as the integrand
axisnamesthatcorrespond tothe Xand Yaxesrespectively.

Corner radius. This isan optionalparameterthatis used to programrounded
interiorcornersin the rectangularpocket.
,C
Corner chamfer. This is anoptionalparameterthatis used to program
chamferedinteriorcornersin the rectangularpocket.
Important: In ordertoprogramrounded or chamfered cornersthe
Chamfering and CornerRadiusoption mustbe installedin the control.
P
Directionoffinishingcut. This parameterdetermineswhether the finishing cuts
areperformed ina clockwiseor counter-clockwise motion. P0specifies
clockwise. P1 specifiescounter-clockwise.
Important: Cuttercompensation (G41/G42)mustbe disabled prior to the
G88.2 block. The controlgenerates an errorifcompensationis not disabled.
H
The finishallowancethatwill be lefton the sidesofthe pocket. Thisisan
optional parameter thatisprovided to allowformultiple finishingcuts.
L
Incrementalplunge depth ofeachcuttingpass plunge alongtheZ axis. If L is
programmed,a finish pass ismadeateachL level. IfL isnotprogrammed, only
one finishing passis made at theprogrammedZ depth. Thisis an optional
parameter. Itistypicallyprogrammedwhena very deeppocketisbeing finished.
F
Finishingfeedrate. If notprogrammedtheexisting (modal)feedrate will beused.
