Using Pocket Milling Cycles
Chapter 22
22-8
Use the G88.1 pocket milling roughing cycle to rough out a slot in a
workpiece. This cycle makes multiple cuts at a programmed length a nd
depth.
The G88.1 block used to rough out a slot has this format:
G88.1 X__Y__Z__I__R__P__H__D__L__E__F__; (X axis slot)
or
G88.1 X__Y__Z__J__R__P__H__D__L__E__F__; (Y axis slot)
Where : Is :
XY
The coordinates thatspecify the centeroftheslot.
Z
The coordinate (along the plungingaxis)thatspecifies the bottomofthe slot.
IJ
The length oftheslotasmeasured fromthepoints where the axisintersects the
arcateachend ofthe slot. Ispecifies the length ofaXaxis slot. J specifies the
length ofaY axis slot. T hese are unsignedincrementalvalues.
Important: Itisassumedthat Iand Jareassigned in AMP as the integrand
axisnamesthatcorrespond tothe Xand Yaxesrespectively.
R
The radius of thearcateach endoftheslot. The radiusequals the slot-width/2.
If notprogrammed,the controlusesthetoolradius value.
Important: When roughing outaslot, the toolradiuscan notexceed the
radius ofthe arc ateachend ofthe slot. Ifitdoes, thecontrol entersCycle-Stop
modeand displays the errormessage “TOOL RADIUSTOOLARGE” on the
CRT.
P
Directionofroughing cut.
H
Finishallowance.
D
Roughingcutthickness.
L
Incrementalplunge depth.
E
Plungefeedrate.
F
Roughingfeedrate.
