Coordinate Control
Chapter 13
13-10
The work coordinate systems are all rotated as soon as the external rotation
feature is activated. The current work coordinate system can be changed
while an External Part Rotation is active. If changed, the new work
coordinate system will be rotated as described by the External Part
Rotation parameters.
The “PROGRAM”and “TARGET”position displays (as discussed in
section 8.1) will not
reflect an external part rotation since these values are
relative to the active work coordinate system.
Since “ABSOLUTE”position displays always show coordinates relative to
the machine coordinate system, they will reflect an external part rotation.
External Part Rotation Parameters
This table describes the parameters you use for external part rotation:
Ifyou want to: Use th is parameter: In this way:
selecta plane plane Enterthe axisnamesthatdefinetheplanetobe rotated. Two separate valuesmustbe
entered onthis line. The first axis enteredhereis theaxis thatthe angleofrotationis
measured from.This parametermustmatchtheactive plane.Iftheexternaland
program-selectedplanesdo notmatch,the controlgeneratesa blockdecodeerror.
define the centerof
rotation
center Enteracoordinatevalue foreach axis intheselected plane. The centerofrotation isa
pointonthemachinecoordinate system aboutwhich alltheworkcoordinate systemswill
be rotated. T he defaultvalue forthe center ofrotationis (0,0).
define the vector vector Entera coordinate valueto define the “head”ofthe vector. The “tail”ofthis vectoristhe
center ofrotation. This parameteris optional. Ifyouuse theangle parameter, that value
overridesthisvalue. The resultinganglebetweenthis vectorlineand the firstplaneaxis
istheangle ofrotation fortheworkcoordinate system Allwork coordinatesystems
rotateaboutthe pointdefined bythe center parameter. The defaultvalues are(0,0).
With the values ofthis parameter, thecontrol calculatestheangleofrotationand
displays this value intheangle parameter.
define the angleof
rotation
angle Enterthe angleatwhich thatyou want to rotate the work coordinatesystem. This value
overridesthevalue of thevectorparameter.Entera positivevalueforclockwise rotation
fromtheprimaryaxisoftheselected plane.Ifyoudo notentera valuethecontrol
displays the angledefinedby thevectorparameter.
