RGU™ DC Suppressor Replacement

Contents This document shows how to remove and replace a DC suppressor in

a Regenerative DC Bus Supply Unit (RGU).

RGU™ DC Suppressor Replacement Safety Precautions The following general precautions apply when servicing an RGU or a drive system lineup: ! ATTENTION: Only those familiar with the drive system, the products used in the system, and the associated machinery should plan or implement the installation, startup, and future maintenance of the system. Failure to comply can result in personal injury and/or equipment damage.

RGU™ DC Suppressor Replacement 3 Preliminary Steps Before replacing the DC suppressor, shut off the power; wait five minutes for the voltage to discharge; and open the bay door. Removing the DC Suppressor 1. Using a meter, test the voltage across the DC bus terminals on the power structure, then across the DC suppressor terminals. ! ATTENTION: If there is any voltage present, remove the source of the voltage and check for voltages again before proceeding to the next step. 2.

Installing the DC Suppressor 1. Remove the Lexan shield from the new DC suppressor. 2. Disconnect the PE lead from the new DC suppressor (unless the existing PE lead in the RGU is damaged). Remove the old lead if it is damaged. 3. Position the DC suppressor and mount it to the panel with the four mounting screws. Torque to 10 lb-ft. If installing a new PE lead, route the lead through the wire bundle and secure it to the PE busbar. 4. Connect the bus leads and PE ground lead. 5.
