Power Fuse Replacement

(for 1250 and 1650A 1395 DC Drives)

Contents This document shows how to remove and replace power fuses in a

1250 or 1650A 1395 DC drive.

What This Kit Contains Using the table below, verify that you have received the appropriate

items in your kit:

Other Items Needed Before you begin, be sure you also have the following:

• Tools needed for:

• Loosening, removing, and securing bolts (ratchet with

9/16” socket)

• Torquing bolts (torque wrench for 25 lb-ft)

• Testing for voltage (multimeter)

• Documentation:

• Your drive system schematics

Power Fuse Replacement (for 1250 and 1650A 1395 DC Drives) Safety Precautions The following general precautions should be heeded when working on DC drives: ! ATTENTION: Only those familiar with the drive system, the products used in the system, and the associated machinery should plan or implement the installation, startup, and future maintenance of the system. Failure to comply can result in personal injury and/or equipment damage.

Power Fuse Replacement (for 1250 and 1650A 1395 DC Drives) 3 Preliminary Steps Before replacing fuses, shut off the drive power, wait five minutes for the voltage to discharge, open the bridge bay door, and remove the Lexan™ shielding. Removing Power Fuses 1. Using a voltmeter, test the voltage across the three phases, then across the fuses. ! ATTENTION: If there is any voltage present, remove the source of the voltage and check for voltages again before proceeding to the next step. 2.

Installing Power Fuses 1. Place the left fuse with its label upright and the black indicator on the left side. 2. Secure the fuse with its two mounting bolts. 3. Place the right fuse with its label upright and the black indicator on the right side. 4. Secure the fuse with its two mounting bolts. 5. Torque all bolts to 25 lb-ft. Concluding Steps After installing the power fuses, replace all Lexan shielding and secure the bay door.
