Chapter 5 Communication Connections
2. Select CIP Serial from the Driver field.
3. Specify a baud rate. Select a communication rate that all devices in your
system support. Configure all devices in the system for the same
communication rate. Default baud rate is set @ 38400 bps.
4. In most cases, parity and station address should be left at default settings.
5. Click Advanced Settings and set Advanced parameters.

CIP Serial Driver Parameters
Parameter Options Default
Baud rate Toggles between the communication rate of 1200, 2400,
4800, 9600, 19200, and 38400.

Parity Specifies the parity setting for the serial port. Parity
provides additional message-packet error detection.
Select Even, Odd, or None.
None
Station Address The station address for the serial port on the DF1
master. The only valid address is 0…254.

DF1 Mode DF1 Full Duplex (read only) Configured as
full-duplex by
default.
Control Line No Handshake (read only) Configured as no
handshake by
default.
Duplicate Packet
Detection
Detects and eliminates duplicate responses to a
message. Duplicate packets may be sent under noisy
communication conditions when the sender’s retries are
not set to 0. Toggles between Enabled and Disabled.
