FOUNDATION Fieldbus Junction Box 3 About the Junction Boxes The 1788-FBJB4R and 1788-FBJB6 junction boxes provide a simple and fault tolerant means of connecting a FOUNDATION Fieldbus network. The 1788-FBJB4R connects to up to four field devices and has dual trunk input and output connectors for use in redundant FOUNDATION Fieldbus configurations. The 1788-FBJB6 has a single trunk input connector and trunk output connector and connects to up to six field devices.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus Junction Box Installation Requirements WARNING: If you connect or disconnect the communications cable with power applied to this module or any device on the network, an electrical arc can occur. This could cause an explosion in hazardous location installations. Be sure that power is removed or the area is nonhazardous before proceeding.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus Junction Box 5 Environment and Enclosure ATTENTION: This equipment is intended for use in a Pollution Degree 2 industrial environment, in overvoltage Category II applications (as defined in IEC 60664-1), at altitudes up to 2000 m (6562 ft) without derating. This equipment is not intended for use in residential environments and may not provide adequate protection to radio communication services in such environments. This equipment is supplied as open-type equipment.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus Junction Box European Hazardous Location Approval This equipment is intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres as defined by European Union Directive 94/9/EC and has been found to comply with the Essential Health and Safety Requirements relating to the design and construction of Category 3 equipment intended for use in Zone 2 potentially explosive atmospheres, given in Annex II to this Directive.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus Junction Box 7 North American Hazardous Location Approval The following information applies when operating this equipment in hazardous locations. Informations sur l’utilisation de cet équipement en environnements dangereux. Products marked "CL I, DIV 2, GP A, B, C, D" are suitable for use in Class I Division 2 Groups A, B, C, D, Hazardous Locations and nonhazardous locations only.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus Junction Box Wire the Junction Box Use IEC61158-2 cable color coding for wiring the FOUNDATION Fieldbus and device connectors as shown in the figure. Do not wire more than one conductor on any single terminal. 1 2 3 1 2 Red Green FB+ FB- 3 Shield WARNING: Temperature rating of conductors must be greater than 82 °C (179.6 °F).

FOUNDATION Fieldbus Junction Box 11 Set DIP Switches Use the DIP switches on the front of the junction box to enable or disable the built-in bus terminator and to configure the auto-reset function.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus Junction Box Operate the Junction Box Reset Button Press the Reset button on the front of the junction box to reset all indication of trips on the device or trunk ports. Term LED A lit Term LED indicates that the junction box is terminated. Device LEDs Interpret the Device LEDs as follows: Device LED State Meainng Off No current is being drawn. There is nothing on t he drop or the device is not operational. Green The device is operating in the allowed current band.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus Junction Box 13 Trunk Trip (1788-FBJB4R only) If a trunk goes into over-current state, it will trip the specific trunk while keeping the rest of the redundant bus active. The trip will remove the supply from the over-current trunk and set the trunk LED to red. The fault latch does not unlatch when the fault has been removed. You must reset the trunk trip by either pressing the Reset button or setting DIP switches 3 and 4 to enable an auto-reset.
