Vacuum Bottle Integrity Test e internal dielectric condition and vacuum integrity of the vacuum bottles is
determinedbythistest.Cleantheoutsideofthevacuumbottleswithanon-
lintingclothorindustrialtypewiperbeforeperformingthetest.Testeachbottle
individually during this test.
X-ray emissions may be produced if a voltage higher than
25,000Voltsisappliedacrosstheopencontactsofavacuum
bottle.
e vacuum bottles are tested thoroughly at the factory
priortoshipment.However,thebottlescanbedamagedby
mishandling during shipment. is damage may not be vis-
ible, so this test should be performed before the contactor
is energized for the rst time and each time it is returned to
serviceaermaintenance,adjustment,orrepair.Otherwise,
this test should be performed annually.
Cautionshouldbeexercisedduringthistestsincehighvoltagetestingispoten-
tially hazardous.
High-potentialtestinstrumentscanbepurchasedtoperformthevacuumbot-
tleintegritytest.Ameggercannotbeusedtomeasurevacuumintegritybecause
themeggervoltageistoolow.OneofthefollowingHi-pottestersisrecom-
mended as a test instrument.
