WhentheboardisconnectedtoacomputerviaUSB,theonboardUSBtoserialchipwillbe
poweredandyourcomputerwillbeabletodetectitandinstallthedrivers.TheUSBdoesnot
howeverpowerthethemainATmegachip,soitmustbepoweredseparatelythroughVS1or
VL.
VLScrewTerminal
TheVLscrewterminalsallowforunregulatedinputstothelogicvoltage(thevoltageusedbythe
mainprocessor/chip).ThelogicvoltageisautomaticallyselectedbetweenVLandVS1
(whicheverhashighestvoltage).SolongasVS1isabove5.3V(notcountingtemporarydrops
involtage),itissufficienttopowerthelogicvoltage,andyoudon’tneedtoconnectanythingto
theVLterminals.
● Ideal:Nothingconnected
● Nominal:612V
● Absolute:5.3~16V
Inmostsituationsonlyonebatteryisneeded(connectedtoVS1),thoughtheremaybe
situationswhereitispreferabletohaveabatteryforthelogicandanotherfortheservos:
● Youareusing4.8VforyourVS1,whichisn'tenoughforVL.
● Youwanttocutthepowertothemotorsbutkeepthelogicpowered.
● Youwanttoensurethelogicisstillpoweredeveniftheservobatteryisdepleted.
VS1ScrewTerminal
TheVS1terminalconnectsdirectlytothepowerandGNDlinesofservopins0to15.The
voltageappliedtoVS1shouldideallycorrespondtothenominalvoltageoftheservos.Formost
R/Cservos,thisis6V.Some“highvoltage”R/Cservoscanoperateusinga7.4Vor11.1VLiPo
battery,butunlessthisisclearlyindicatedintheservo’sspecifications,becarefulaboutwhat
voltageyouuse.Usinga7.4VLiPowithanormalR/Cservoisdiscouragedandusing11.1V
withanormalservowilllikelydestroyit.

TheVS2terminalisconnecteddirectlytothepowerandGNDlinesofservopins16to31.The
