Modeisselected.WhenOFFPotModeisselected.Modeconfigurationswitche sare
readuponpowerupandswitchingthemwhileinoperationdoesnotchangethe
operatingmode.
BECTheBECfunctionsupplies5VtotheRCreceiverinRCmode.Switch#1controls
theBECmode.TurningSwitch#1ONsupplies5VtotheRCreceiverthroughtheRC
cable.IftheRCreceiverhasabatteryorothervoltagesupplythenthiscanbeturned
OFF.Also,turning BECoffallowsmultipleVyperstobeconnectedtotheRCreceiver
w ithoutthe5V regulatorsoneachunitconflicting.Finallyifservosorotherloadsa reto
bedrivenbythereceiver,theBECshouldbeturnedoffandavoltagesourcewith
sufficientcapacityshouldbeused.TheBECfunctionisonlyintendedtopowera
receiverorotherlowcurrentload.Itdoesnothaveenoughcapacitytodriveaservo
orotherhighcurrentload.
Brake/CoastinRCModeswitchingthe#3switchtoONac tivatesBrakeMo de.In
thismodethemotorleadsare shortedtogetherwhenazerospeediscommanded.This
providesastrongelectromagneticbrakingactiontothemotor.TheOFFposition
activatesCoastMode .Inthismodethemotorleadsaredisconnectedatzerospeed.
Thisallowsthemotortomoregentlycoasttoa stop.Thephysicsoftheindividual
applicationwilldecidewhichsettingisbest.
ForwardorForward/ReverseInPotmodeSettingthe#3s witc htoONactivates
Forw ardandReversemodeOFFactivatesForwardOnlyMode.InForward/Reverse
modethepotcontrolwillbeoffinthecenterpositionwithpowertothemotor
increasingineithe rtheforwardorreversedirectionasthepotismovedawayfromthe
centerposition.InForwardOnlymodethepowertotheloadwillbeoffatoneextreme
ofthepottravelandpowerwillincreaseinonlyonedirectionasthepotismovedto
theotherextreme.Thisissimilartoascooterorcarthrottleactionandisusedwhere
reversing voltagetotheloadisnotneede d.
LipoCutoffinRCMode the#4switchcontrolstheLipobatterysafetycutoff
feature.WhenswitchedONtheLipocutoffisactivatedifOFFthebatteryvoltageis
ignored.Lithiumchemistrybatteriescanbedamagediftheyareoverdischarged.The
Lipo cutofffeaturewilldisabletheoutputsifthebatteryvoltagefallsbelow3.0Vper
batterycell.Thesy stemdeterminesthecellcountatpoweronandcalculatesthe
cutoffvoltagefromthat.Ifthebatte ryismostlydischargedwhentheunitispowered
onanincorrectcellcountmayres ultandthecutofffunctionmaynotworkproperly
allowingexcessivedischargeofthebattery.
SafeStartModeinPotmodeswitch#4setsSafeStartmodewhenONandturnsit
offwhenOFF.SafeStartpreventsthemotorfromgettinganypoweruntilthecontrol
ismovedtothez erospeedposition.In Forward/Reversemodethisisthecenteroff
pointandinForwardmodeitisoneextremeoftravel.Afterthecontrol ismovedtothe
zeropositionthemotorwillactivateandfollowthecontrolintheselectedmode.This
preventsthemotorfromjumpingintomotionwhen po werisapplied.
