INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The width of a row of Roberts AirGuard™ Underlayment is comprised of 40 inches
of underlayment plus an 8-inch overlap flap. The overlap flap with a peel and stick
strip connects each row of underlayment and protects the new floor from any
moisture that could be carried up through open seams.
Installation Steps
1. Always follow the flooring manufacturers' installation instructions with respect
to preparing and leveling the sub-floor. Make sure the sub-floor is level, clean
and dry.
2. The 8 inch overlap flap is not used for the first row of underlayment installed.
Trim off the overlap flap prior to installing the first row. This material should be
used later to properly seal adjoining rolls of underlayment and to repair cuts or
tears that may occur during installation.
3. Start in the corner of the room by rolling out the underlayment with the logo
side facing down and the red side facing up. Run the underlayment 2 inches up
both the starting end wall and the side wall (see Fig. 1). This 2 inch perimeter
running up the wall provides a moisture-proof enclosure for the flooring.
4. Lay a second row of underlayment alongside the first, with the overlap flap
facing the first row. Allow for the ends to wrap up the end wall to maintain the 2
inch perimeter of underlayment around the room.
5. Fold back the overlap flap to expose the peel and stick strip. Remove the white
protective cover from the adhesive strip (see Fig. 2), and lay the overlap flap
across the first row of underlayment. Press into place (see Fig. 3). Repeat steps 4
and 5 row by row until the entire floor area is covered.
6. After the flooring is installed, trim the excess underlayment back to the height of
the finished floor. Do this prior to installing base or molding (see Fig. 4).

INSTRUCCIONES DE INSTALACIÓN
El ancho de una hilera de Contrapiso AirGuard™ de Roberts comprende de 1.02 m de
contrapiso más una solapa de 20 cm. La solapa es adhesiva con una tira removible, conecta
cada hilera de contrapiso y protege el piso nuevo de cualquier humedad que pueda
infiltrarse por las juntas que estén abiertas.
Pasos para la Instalación
1. Siempre siga las instrucciones de instalación proporcionadas por el fabricante del piso,
con respecto a la preparación y nivelación del subsuelo. Asegúrese que el subsuelo esté
nivelado, limpio y seco.
2. La solapa de 200mm no se utiliza en la primera hilera que se instalará. Corte la solapa
antes de instalar la primera hilera. Este material podrá usarlo más adelante para sellar los
rollos de contrapiso y para reparar cortes o en áreas donde se rasgue durante
la instalación.
3. Comience en una de las esquinas del área de trabajo, desenrolle hacia a fuera el
contrapiso con el logotipo mirando hacia abajo y el lado rojo mirando hacia arriba. Deje
5 cm de contrapiso hacia arriba en la pared que comenzó y en la pared del costado (ver
Figura 1). Este perímetro de 5 cm que sube por la pared crea una barrera contra la
humedad para el piso.
4. Coloque una segunda hilera de contrapiso al lado de la primera, con la solapa mirando
hacia la primera hilera. Permita que en los bordes, el contrapiso suba por la pared para
mantener el perímetro de 5 cm de contrapiso alrededor del área de trabajo.
5. Voltee la solapa hacia arriba para exponer la tira adhesiva. Remueva el protector blanco
de la tira adhesiva (ver la Figura 2), y coloque a través de la primera hilera de contrapiso.
Presione hasta quedar en su lugar (ver la Figura 3). Repita los pasos 4 y 5, hilera por
hilera hasta que toda el área donde instalará el piso quede cubierta.
6. Después de haber instalado el piso, corte el exceso de contrapiso hasta quedar a la altura
del piso ya acabado. Haga esto antes de instalar la moldura de base o la moldura (ver la
Figura 4).

WARRANTY
Roberts AirGuard underlayment has been designed to meet the general requirements of Laminate and Engineered
Wood Flooring Manufacturers’ for a floating floor underlayment, when used in normal household and light
commercial conditions, for a time period equivalent to the warranted life of the floating floor under which AirGuard
Underlayment is installed. The general requirements are: 1) Cushioning/Leveling Properties, 2) Protection against
Moisture Vapor, and 3) Sound Dampening. Roberts is so confident about the quality of our AirGuard Underlayment
that we are committed to honor the warranties of all laminate/wood flooring brands.
This limited warranty is extended by Roberts Consolidated Industries ("Roberts" or “Seller”) only to the first
purchaser or first end user ("Purchaser" or “User”) of Roberts AirGuard Underlayment, and applies to defects in
material and workmanship under normal conditions for the life of the flooring, provided that AirGuard is used in
accordance with all the conditions of warranty set forth. In the event that any Laminate or Engineered Wood Floating
Floor fails due to Roberts AirGuard Underlayment, Roberts will pay for: the replacement of the effected floor or entire
room flooring if the flooring cannot be matched, the underlayment under the laminate floor, and the labor to both
remove and re-install the floor. Warranty is void if AirGuard is not installed in accordance with Roberts’ Installation
Instructions and the Laminate or Engineered Wood Flooring Manufacturer’s installation instructions for sub-floors.
The Purchaser or User is responsible for obtaining and compensating an independent inspection to determine the
cause of the defect and providing Roberts a written report outlining the findings in written notice. Roberts also
reserves the right to inspect the goods and installation to determine, to its satisfaction, that any deficiencies actually
exist and were not caused by improper installation, accident, misuse, neglect, alteration, unauthorized repair, or
improper testing. Roberts shall have a reasonable time to perform any repair or replacement. The labor provided
shall be limited to normal working hours. Any labor required to move furniture, equipment, or other objects to repair
or replace the product shall be borne by the Purchaser or User.
Roberts Consolidated Industries, Inc. (Roberts) guarantees that all AirGuard Underlayment produced and shipped
shall be void of defects in manufacturing, materials and workmanship. This warranty is limited to the original
Purchaser and is not transferable.
NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY:
Roberts does not warrant and is not responsible for defects or failures caused in whole or in part by any of the
following: flood, fire, natural disaster, owner negligence or neglect, frozen or broken water pipes or similar events in
which the resulting damage is subject to an insurance claim, structural failures, acts of God, acts of war,
workmanship not in accordance with Roberts’ written instructions or standard industry practice and procedures,
damages that the user was capable of preventing, seismic action, vapor emissions above 4.5 lb per 1,000 sq ft per 24
hours, a pH in excess of 9, dimensional stability of flooring material, discoloration, tears, rips, water leakage,
maintenance procedures or any other condition beyond the control of Roberts.
It is recommended that all concrete sub-floors be tested with a calcium chloride test kit prior to installation of the
AirGuard underlayment. Moisture levels that exceed 4.5lbs per 1000 square feet per 24 hours when tested with a
calcium chloride kit will void this warranty.
ROBERTS DOES NOT WARRANT PRODUCTS INCORPORATED OR UTILIZED IN THE INSTALLATION OF THE
LAMINATE OR ENGINEERED WOOD FLOATING FLOOR WHICH WERE NOT FURNISHED OR INSTALLED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH ROBERT'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.

El contrapiso AirGuard de la marca Roberts ha sido diseñado para cumplir con los requerimientos generales de los fabricantes de
Pisos de Madera Laminada y Madera Procesada, para ser utilizado como contrapiso de pisos flotantes, utilizado en hogares y en
áreas de tráfico bajo, por el mismo tiempo equivalente que esté garantizado el revestimiento flotante que irá sobre el contapiso
AirGuard. Los requerimientos generales son: 1) Propiedades de Amortiguación/Nivelación, 2) Protección contra los Vapores de
Humedad y 3) Reducción del nivel del ruido. Roberts está tan confidente acerca de la calidad del contrapiso AirGuard, que nos
comprometemos de honrar las garantías de todas las marcas de pisos laminados de Madera y de Madera procesada.
La garantía limitada se extiende por Roberts Consolidated Industries ("Roberts" o “el Vendedor”) solamente al primer comprador o
al primer usuario ("Comprador" o “Usuario”) del Contrapiso AirGuard de la marca Roberts, y aplica en caso de haber defectos en el
material o en el proceso de fabricación bajo condiciones normales de la vida del revestimiento, siempre y cuando el contrapiso
AirGuard sea utilizado de acuerdo a todas las condiciones enunciadas en la garantía. En el caso que cualquier piso laminado de
madera o de madera procesada falle por culpa del contrapiso AirGuard de la marca Roberts, Roberts pagará por: el reemplazo del
piso afectado o por todo el piso del área que haya sido afectada en caso de no encontrar el mismo tipo de piso, el contrapiso que
haya sido instalado debajo del piso de la madera laminada, y por el costo de la mano de obra para remover y reinstalar el
revestimiento. La garantía se anulará si el contrapiso AirGuard no se instala de acuerdo a las instrucciones de instalación de
Roberts, y si no se siguen las instrucciones para instalación de subsuelos proporcionadas por el fabricante del piso de madera
laminada o madera procesada. El comprador o el usuario es responsable de obtener y compensar una inspección independiente
para determinar la causa del daño y proporcionarle a Roberts un reporte escrito con los resultados. Roberts también se reserva el
derecho de hacer una inspección de los materiales y el proceso de instalación para determinar, bajo su propia satisfacción, que
existe alguna deficiencia y no fueron causadas por una instalación inapropiada, accidente, mal uso, negligencia, alteración,
reparación no autorizada, o hacer pruebas inapropiadas. Roberts tendrá un tiempo razonable para hacer una reparación o hacer un
reemplazo. La mano de obra proporcionada estará limitada a horas normales de trabajo. Cualquier mano de obra necesitada para
mover muebles, equipos o cualquier otro objeto, para poder reemplazar o reparar el producto sera asumida por el comprador o el

Roberts Consolidated Industries, Inc. (Roberts) garantiza que todos los contrapisos AirGuard producidos y enviados no deberán

LA GARANTÍA NO CUBRE LO SIGUIENTE:
Roberts no garantiza y no es responsable por defectos o fallas causadas totalmente o parcialmente por lo siguiente: inundaciones,
fuego, desastres naturales, negligencia del dueño, tubería congelada o rota o eventos similares donde los daños estén sujetos para
ser reclamados a los seguros, fallas estructurales, actos de Dios, actos de Guerra, mano de obra que no vaya de acuerdo a las
instrucciones proporcionadas por Roberts o no vayan con la práctica y procedimientos estándar de la industria, daños que el
usuario hubiera podido prevenir, acción sísmica, emisiones de vapor mayores a 2 kg por cada 92 mÇ por cada 24 horas, un pH que
exceda a 9, estabilidad dimensional del material del piso, descolocación, rasgaduras, rasgones, goteras de agua, procedimientos de
mantenimiento o cualquier otra condición que esté por fuera del control de Roberts.
Se recomienda que a todos los subsuelos de concreto se les haga una prueba de cloruro de calcio antes de instalar el contrapiso
AirGuard. Los niveles de humedad que se excedan de 2 kg por cada 92 mÇ por cada 24 horas, comprobados por la prueba de cloruro
de calcio anulará esta garantía.
ROBERTS NO GARANTIZA LOS PRODUCTOS INCORPORADOS O UTILIZADOS EN LA INSTALACIÓN DE PISOS LAMINADOS DE
MADERA O DE MADERA PROCESADA, LOS CUALES NO FUERAN EQUIPADOS O INSTALADOS DE ACUERDO A LAS
INSTRUCCIONES PROPORCIONADAS POR ROBERTS.
