S/RF/CAL/SWR METER
This meter measures the antenna's Standing
Wave
Ratio
(SWR)
to
check
the antenna system
or
to
indicate
that
the antenna needs adjusting
to
the proper length.
Press
S/RF/CAL/SWRto
cycle through meter functions or transmitting
and receiving (incoming and outgoing signal strength and wattage). The
12-column
LCD
display (refer
to
item number 3 on page
7)
displays
this data.
Press
S/RF/CAL/SWR
to
cycle through the functions
as
follows:
S/RF
Meter
➔
CAL
Meter
➔
SWR
Meter.
Press
and hold
PTT
on the microphone
to
see
the
RF
output
power levels.
Release
PTTto
see
incoming signal strengh.
Calibrate Standing Wave Ratio (SWR)
Check and calibrate the
SWR
to
ensure
that
you are using power
effectively.
1.
Press
S/RF/CAL/SWR
until
CAL appears.
2.
Press
and
hold
PTT/wireless
PTT.
Turn
the
volume
knob
until
the
bar
graph
and
the
I
indicator
are in
the
same position.
3.
Keeping
the
PTT
and wireless
PTT
pressed, press
the
S/RF/CAL/
SWR
key again
until
the
SWR
icon displays.
4.
Note
the
SWR
reading and release
PTT.
If
the
reading
is
> 1.5,
follow
your
antenna's instructions
to
adjust
the
antenna
length.
Then, repeat this procedure.
TALKBACK
Turn Talkback
ON
to
hear your own voice through the radio's speaker
when transmitting. lfTalkback
is
on and
PTT
is
not
pressed in 5 seconds,
PTT
turns off. Rotate the Volume knob while
PTT
is
active
to
adjust
Talkback volume.
