Wide-Band Radio Scanner for Your PC
WiNRADiO integrates advanced radio receiver technology and the power of a personal computer, to create a new
concept in radio communications. Using the keyboard or mouse, WiNRADiO can be operated exactly like a
professional scanner and HF receiver, with the same controls and displays you find only in high quality
equipment, costing well over $1000.
The Receiver
Tunes continuously from 150KHz ~1.5GHz (cellular blocked), in 1Hz~1MHz steps, in all modes: •WFM •NFM
•AM •USB •LSB •CW. This allows you to hear virtually all police, fire, government, military, overseas
broadcasts, HAM radio, citizens band and other two-way radio traffic that is being transmitted. In addition, you
are able to hear broadcast AM, FM, and television audio, from every station in your area. Multiple scanning
modes allow scanning of a specified frequency range or programmed memory group, of signals in any or all
transmission modes. Up to one thousand channels may be stored, in up to 16 different groups, allowing
tremendous scanning flexibility.
The Software
On-screen display appears very much the same as a professional quality scanner. Functions including power,
squelch, AF gain, DX/local sensitivity, receive mode, BFO offset, scanner control, rotary and stepped tuning are
all controlled via the keyboard or mouse. Pull down windows and pop-up labels allow control and flexibility that
would require a huge front panel on a conventional receiver. Also displayed is a dual display clock showing local
and world time. In the Windows environment you can enjoy the full benefits it capabilities while performing other
tasks. DOS command line program is also included.
The Spectrum Analyzer
Included software provides a spectrum display of activity of any frequency range, up to 100MHz wide. Visitune
®
tuning feature allows you to then use your mouse to tune across the displayed range, and instantly tune up and
down with your hand movements.

Trunking
Option
Join the trunked radio revolution with the
WiNRADiO Trunking Option! Conventional
two–way radio is quickly disappearing.
It is being pushed aside by trunked
radio, which offers a much better
spectrum utilization. Trunked radio relies
on computer-allocated radio frequency
channels, and is therefore eminently
suitable for reception by the WiNRADiO
computer–based receivers.
The WiNRADiO Trunking Option is
fully integrated with WiNRADiO
receiver software, and is suited for
monitoring of Motorola SmartNet
®
and MPT1327 trunking
networks, the two most commonly used trunking systems
world–wide. This makes it possible to follow conversations on
the trunked networks, relying on the control channel data
transmitted by the base station, provide information about systems characteristics, log traffic activity, and
automatically build up databases of trunking networks. It is designed to work with all versions of WiNRADiO
receivers. The software takes advantage of the ubiquitous and economical PC sound card to implement the latest
digital signal processing algorithms for data decoding and analysis. Intended mainly to satisfy the needs of a
serious radio–monitoring enthusiast, it is also suitable for budget–conscious professional surveillance
applications. The components of the WiNRADiO trunked option are provided in the form of XRS plug-ins,
selectable by clicking on an item in a menu, and may be used in either single-receiver or dual-receiver mode.
Single–receiver mode: Decoder stays on the control channel of a trunking network, waiting until all the
necessary conditions allowing it to tune to the voice channel are met. While monitoring a voice channel, the
control channel cannot be decoded. The receiver returns to the control channel automatically after the
transmission on the voice channel terminates. Dual–receiver mode: One receiver stays permanently on the
data channel while the other follows the desired voice channel. While the second receiver is not tuned to a traffic
channel, its output is muted. This mode ensures continuous data channel receiving and decoding, making it
possible to achieve an easier and faster following of the desired stations. Database browser: A dedicated
database is automatically maintained, separately for SmartNet and MPT1327 networks. As this database
contains a significant amount of important information, a special browsing facility is included. The database
browser allows the user to inspect trunking system information recorded in the database file of all the systems
that were received in the past, even if only for several seconds. System requirements: •100MHz Pentium or
