User manual

Dear Customer,
Thank you for purchasing a set of Ripmax Electric retracts. Before trying to use them, please read these
instructions carefully. These retracts can be used in both electric and engine powered models. They are
designed to primarily use the power supplied through the receiver. This can come from the battery in the case
of engine models, or a BEC system in electric models. When operating, the units may pull significant total
current, especially tricycle setups. The heavier the wheels/legs or air drag on the leg doors, the more current
is used. Please make sure that your BEC system (or battery in engine models) is capable of delivering this
current. BEC systems that use a ‘linear’ style BEC will have substantially less current ability than ‘Switch mode’
BEC systems. Your ESC manufacturer should be able to tell you the BEC current rating. Remember to take into
account the general model needs also (servos and receiver). Failure to provide the total system with enough
power may cause the receiver to lose signal (brown out). If in doubt, use a separate battery supply for the
retracts. For this you will need a special ‘Y’ lead (part number P-CFCYLG).
