DIGITAL TIME AND DATE SETTING NOTE: There are 3 possible digital views in TIDE/DATE/TIME MODE (main screen). Use START/STOP or LAP/RESET to switch between views. 1. The date: Can be displayed as DD-MM (Day/Month) or MM-DD (Month/Day) 2. Digital time: Wherever you are, for accurate tide time and alarm usage, the digital time must be set to the local time and date. 3. Bells plus 45 minutes equals my local beach. -To activate CUSTOM setting, in TIDE mode press and HOLD LAP/RESET in for 2 seconds, MINS appears and a ZERO digit will flash. -Use START/STOP & LAP/RESET to increase or decrease the time offset till correct. -Press MODE/SET to lock in your offset. CUSTOM will appear in the screen.

To calibrate for TRUE NORTH an OFFSET is required. ***See below. Enter your OFFSET by using START/STOP or LAP/RESET then press MODE/SET to continue calibration. Your watch will instruct you to TURN CW. This means, take the watch off, hold it level, and rotate it SLOWLY in a clockwise direction. It will take one minute of slow clockwise rotation to complete the calibration. Once the calibration is complete, firstly DONE will appear in the screen and then the compass direction will appear.

SPOT X BEACH INTRODUCTION Just in case you can’t find a preset location that can be customized to your local beach. Your watch is equipped with a Spot X averaging tide function. Spot X follows the world accepted average tide cycle of 6hrs 12mins and 25 seconds from High tide to Low tide. Spot X is present at the bottom of EVERY beach list. AUTOMATIC MECHANICAL WATCHES A B Crown GETTING THE WATCH STARTED Automatic mechanical watches do not require a battery. There are 2 methods of starting your watch. 1. You can wind the watch turning the crown in a clockwise direction approximately 15 times. Make sure you don’t over wind it. 2. You can also wind your watch by swinging your arm. We recommend you 1st wind the watch to get it started and then by wearing the watch you will continue to give power to the watch.
DAY DATE 24HR TIME WATCHES SETTING PROCEDURE DAY HOUR & 24 HOUR MINUTE SECOND SETTING THE DAY Pull the crown out to position C. DATE Continually turn the hour / DAY (OF THE WEEK) minute hands in a clockwise 24 HOUR HAND direction to set a day. NOTE : * The day changes somewhere between 0:00a.m. and 5:30a.m. * Do not set the day by turning the crown in counterclockwise direction.
DATE 24HR TIME WATCHES SETTING THE TIME Pull the crown out to position C. Turn the hour / minute hands in a clockwise direction to set the time. NOTE : * Make sure you have correctly set A.M. / P.M. before setting the time. When the day changes over, it is a.m. (Day changes over between 0:00a.m. and 5:30a.m. or little later) Check a.m. / p.m. by the 24 hour hand. ABC Crown SETTING THE DATE Pull the crown out position B. HEAT BEZEL HEAT BEZEL FUNCTION The unique Rip Curl Heat Bezel, found on many Rip Curl watches, can be used for countdown timing of 20, 30 and 40-minute periods - the common heats in surfing competitions. The Heat Bezel countdown timer can also be used for any other timing requirements (ie. sun exposure, parking meters, appointments etc.) To set the Heat Bezel Timer... 1.Turn your bezel by hand counterclockwise/to the left and align the Rip Curl logo with the minute hand. 2.
LEATHER / PU STRAPS To Change Your Strap: To change your watch strap use a pin or paperclip to gently push the solid pins through the case pin holes. At the same time, carefully pull on the strap until the bar releases. When fitting your new strap ensure the bars are seated well by tugging on both ends before you wear your watch. Note: Rip Curl leather straps are made of the finest oiled leather for long life. But despite other’s claims, real leather cannot be made 100% waterproof.
STAINLESS STEEL STRAPS BAND LENGTH ADJUSTMENT: Major Adjustments to the length of your strap must be made by removing the correct amount of metal links to fit your wrist. Links should be taken out as evenly as possible from both sides. 1. Note the direction of the small engraved arrows on the back of strap links. 2. Use a thumb tack firmly push out the first split-pin in the direction of the arrow. Fig.1 3. Pull out the split pin fully. The strap now comes apart.
Minor adjustments: After the correct fit has been achieved final adjustments or changes can be made as follows: 1. Use a thumb tack slowly insert into the spring bar hole at the clasp. (fig. 5) Join will release. 2. Move the spring bar to the desired hole for the perfect fit. (fig. 6). Be sure to align both ends of the spring bar in the same set of holes. Fig.5 Fig.
