the most widely used applications. Users can define
their own shutdown procedures also establishing the
order in which critical computers (such as servers) are
to be shut down.

assures standard management and
monitoring capabilities using the TCP/IP
communication protocol. This makes it possible to
monitor computers with different operating systems
from a single console, for example monitoring a UNIX
server from a PC with Windows 98 and also connecting
to UPS located in different geographical areas using
dedicated networks (intranets) or the Internet.
3) Event scheduling:
With PowerShield

, users can program their own
procedures to shutdown, power-off and power-up
their powered systems, considerably increasing
system safety and, equally important, power
economy.
4) Messages management:
PowerShield

keeps users constantly informed of the
status of the UPS both locally and also by sending
messages to network users. It is also possible to
define a mailing list of users who will receive e-mail
messages, faxes and SMS in the case of faults or
sudden blackouts.
5) Integrated SNMP agent:
PowerShield
2
features an integrated SNMP agent for
management of the UPS via SNMP. This agent is able
to send all the information about the UPS and to
generate traps using the RFC 1628 MIB standard. This
makes it possible to manage the UPS in compatible
SNMP management stations such as HP Open View,
Novell Managewise and IBM NetView.

architecture that makes it flexible and easy to use,
with multi-language support and on-line help.
