8-5 Voice Request With this feature, you can speak with the remote terminal operator before or after transmission or reception. You can also interrupt communication to speak to the other party. For Voice Request to be effective, both terminals must: ● Have a telephone or handset connected. . Have the voice request function.

8-7 immediate Redial When the other party is busy, the machine will automatically redial after 5 minutes. However, you can redial sooner by pressing the Pause/Redial key. This function is available when your machine is standing by. Even if Immediate Redial is used, the maximum number of redials will still be two. Note: Immediate Redial cannot be used in the CONFIDENTIAL, POLLING or MEMORY modes when in Redial Standbv TRANSFER REQUEST, 1) Either: Keep the handset on-hook.
8-9 Using a Keystroke Program A keystroke program is a preprogrammed set of features and addresses that have been stored into a Quick Dial key. See page 9-26 for details on storing a keystroke program. To use a stored keystroke program, follow one of the following procedures. — Transmission – 1) Place the documents into the feeder. 2) Select the required contrast and resolution. 3) Enter the page count and your department code, if required.
8-11 Using the Machine as a Copier You can make up to 99 copies of a document using the following procedure: 1 Press the Function key then enter 77. 8-12 G1 Mode This unit is compatible with Group 1 terminals (i.e., North American six-minute terminals). To make a G1 transmission: 1. Press the resolution key until the G1 Mode indicator lights. 2. Place the document in the ADF. 3. Select the contrast, then dial. 4. Either: If someone answers the line, ask that person to press the Start key after talking. Press Start yourself when you hear a high-pitched tone (the answer-back tone).
9. FUNCTIONS AND PROGRAMMING This machine has a wide range of programmable functions. Study these functions to get the most out of the machine. Program these functions while the machine is in standby mode. If you want to return the machine to standby mode at any time while programming, press the Function key. 9-8 Programming Quick Dialand Speed Dial There are two types of quick dial. This is entering a number by entering a two-digit number. 9-9 Programming Groups You can designate more than one remote terminal for polling reception, memory transmission or transfer request. If you regularly poll or transfer to the same group of destinations (for example, your branch offices), it may be convenient for you to be able to designate all these destinations with only a few keystrokes. This can be done with preprogrammed groups. You can program 7 groups. Each group may contain as many destinations as you want.

9-17 Enabling and Disabling ECM ECM (Error Correction Mode) is a newly developed signaling system which greatly reduces the possibility of data being lost as a result of bad telephone lines. You should enable ECM if you frequently communicate over poor telephone lines. Using ECM, telephone charges are not affected, and may even be reduced, unless you encounter a bad line. In this case, the extra signaling involved will increase line charges but data will be transmitted much more reliably.
9-18 Automatic Voice Message (AVM) You can record a voice message. When your machine is set in FAX mode and a call comes in, your terminal WIII send out this message to identify yourself to the caller. Total communication time will be increased by the length of the recorded message.
