8. Other settings are optional. Click the OK button on the Properties of Account
screen.
9. Click the close button on the SIP Accounts screen.
10. The phone should automatically register with Evolution.
Linksys SPA Telephones
The Linksys SPA telephones are SIP telephones
that are compatible with Evolution. Current
supported models include the SPA962 (pictured
right), SPA942, SPA941, SPA922, SPA921, and the
SP901. Use the following steps to congure any
Linksys SPA model for basic service with
Evolution:
1. Log on to Evolution and click the Resources
tab at the top of the screen
2. Click Phone Extensions in the menu on the left side of the screen
3. At the bottom of the screen there is a drop-down menu titled New Device,
Select VoIP--GENERIC SIP-
4. The Modify Phones detail frame will appear. Edit the following:
Select the extension number that you want using the Extension drop-down
menu
Edit the Caller ID Name eld to reect what name you want to be passed
as this extensions Caller ID text
Edit the Caller ID Number eld to reect what number you want to be
passed as this extensions Caller ID number
Select the appropriate time zone for the time zone where the phone will be
located
Select yes or no using the Remote Phone drop-down menu. Select yes if
the phone will not be on the same subnet as the Evolution server (for
example, if the phone belongs to a user that is located at a remote
location). Otherwise select no
The other options on the Modify Phones frame are optional or advanced
5. Click the Save button on the middle, right side of the screen
6. Write down the device settings for your new extension that are displayed on
the screen.
7. Use the device settings to congure your X-Lite or EyeBeam softphone in the
next section.
8. Use the Linksys telephone web conguration tool to enter the device settings
that you wrote down above. Use the following steps as a guideline:
a) Determine the IP address of the telephone. Connect the telephone to your
Ethernet network and if you do not have Power over Ethernet (PoE) then
plug in the power cord for your telephone.
b) Press the Settings button. Scroll down and select the Network
category. Write down the IP address that your telephone acquired from
your network.
c) Log into the telephone web interface: open a web browser and enter the
IP address that you wrote down in the prior step (for example, http://
192.168.1.104).
Note: You may need to click the Admin Login or the switch to advanced view
links in the PAP2T-NA web conguration screen to access all of the settings
described below.
