INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Gen 5 - Inlet Duct Adapter
Read these instructions thoroughly and understand all steps and procedures before proceeding
with the installation.
Refer to Use and Care Manual before installing this kit.
Ducting Requirements:
- Always check with local building and HVAC codes before designing the duct system.
- DO NOT connect this water heater to existing duct work; it must be ducted separately from other appliances.
- Ducting must be adequately supported along both vertical and horizontal lengths.
 -Rigidductingmustbeisolatedfromoorjoistsorotherstructuralmemberstominimizethetransmissionof
noise and vibration.
 -Ifusingrigidducting,ashortsection(12inchminimum)ofexibleductmustbeusedbetweenthewater
heater ducting and ducting secured to the structure as an isolation method.
 -Ensurecoldairexhaustissufcientlyawayfromstructurestopreventcondensationonsurfaces.
Kit Information:
Rigid elbows are recommended for installation in tight places where space needs to be minimized.
Kit Contains:
1 – Inlet Adapter
5 – Self-drilling sheet metal screws
Instructions:
1. Placeelbowontoinletorexhaustangeofwaterheaterandsecurewith4sheetmetalscrewsprovided.
Forinletconnectionwhereductingwillcrossoverairlterofwaterheater,placeshortlengthofrigidduct
providedbetweenelbowandinletangetoallowforairlterremovalandsecurewitheightsheetmetal
screws provided.
2. Insulate any exposed metal of elbow and rigid duct per HVAC codes to prevent condensation.
