Contraindications
The device is contraindicated on patients without a spontaneous
respiratory drive. If any of the following conditions apply to you,
consult your physician before using the device:
Inability to maintain a patent airway or adequately clear •
secretions
At risk for aspiration of gastric contents •
Diagnosed with acute sinusitis or otitis media •
Allergy or hypersensitivity to the mask materials where •
the risk from allergic reaction outweighs the benet of
ventilatory assistance
Epistaxis, causing pulmonary aspiration of blood •
Hypotension •
When assessing the relative risks and benets of using this
equipment, the health care professional should understand that this
device can deliver pressures up to 25 cm H
2
O. In the event of certain
fault conditions, a maximum pressure of 40 cm H
2
O is possible.
