CHAPTER 5: SETTING UP THE DEVICE
5.1 INSTALLING THE AIR FILTERS
 e device uses one or two removable fi lters at the air inlet.  e disposable white ultra-fi ne fi lter is
optional. You must install the gray foam fi lter before operating the device.  e foam fi lter is washable and
reusable.
CAUTION: A properly installed, undamaged foam fi lter is required for proper operation.

To install the air fi lters, complete the following steps:
. If you are using the optional white ultra-fi ne fi lter, place it against the gray foam fi lter so the soft side
of the ultra-fi ne fi lter touches the gray foam fi lter. When the fi lters are installed, the hard plastic side of
the white fi lter will touch the inside of the device.
. Slide the fi lters into the air inlet at the rear of the device (with the white fi lter going in fi rst, if it’s
used). Push them down into the recess as shown in Figure 5-1.
. Position the cap so that the small opening on the cap is facing down.
. Snap the cap into place.
NOTE:  e fi lter cap should be installed with the air inlet opening at the bottom.
See Chapter 9 for information about cleaning or replacing the fi lters.
5.2 WHERE TO PLACE THE DEVICE
Place the device on its base somewhere within easy reach of where you will use it. Make sure that the air
inlet on the rear of the device is not blocked. Place the device on a hard, fl at surface. If you block the air
fl ow around the device, the device may not work properly.
WARNING: Position the humidifi er so the water level is lower than you, and the humidifi er is on
the same level or lower than the device. See the humidifi er instructions for complete
setup information.
