Thank you for choosing the S8 ELITE™ flow generator. The S8 ELITE is a compact, all-in-one package with an inbuilt power supply and the option of integrated data management and humidification. This user manual contains the information you need for the correct use of your S8 ELITE.
WARNINGS The entire manual should be read before using the S8 ELITE. Advice contained in this manual should not supersede instructions given by the prescribing physician. • A patient should not connect a device to the data communication port unless instructed to do so by their health care provider or physician. Only ResMed products are designed to be connected to the data communication port. Connecting other devices could result in injury, or damage to the S8 ELITE device.
Do not open the S8 ELITE case. There are no user serviceable parts inside. Repairs and internal servicing should only be performed by an authorised service agent. • Explosion hazard—do not use in the vicinity of flammable anesthetics. CAUTIONS • • • • • At low pressures, the flow through the exhalation ports of your mask may not clear all exhaled gas from the tubing. Some rebreathing may occur.

The S8 ELITE device is part of a system that consists of five elements: • S8 ELITE flow generator • Mask • Humidifier • Data management products • Accessories. ENGLISH THE S8 ELITE SYSTEM S8 ELITE Please refer to the illustrations in section A of the illustration sheet. FRONT VIEW (A-1) Shows the keypad and LCD screen, and the air outlet. REAR VIEW (A-2) Shows where the module attaches, and the location of the air filter and power sockets.
FULL FACE MASKS • • • MIRAGE™ FULL FACE MASK MIRAGE™ FULL FACE MASK SERIES 2 ULTRA MIRAGE™ FULL FACE MASK Note: Not all masks are available in all regions. ! WARNING Only ResMed mask systems are compatible for use with the S8 Elite. Please refer to “Warnings” on page 6. HUMIDIFIER Please refer to the illustration in section B of the illustration sheet. A humidifier may be required if you are experiencing dryness of the nose, throat or mouth.
Please refer to the illustrations in section D of the illustration sheet. SET UP THE S8 ELITE 1 ENGLISH HOW TO USE THE S8 ELITE Place the S8 ELITE on a table near the head of your bed. ! CAUTION Be careful not to place the device where it can be bumped or where someone is likely to trip over the power cord. Note: You can also place your S8 Elite on the floor beside or underneath your bed.
START TREATMENT 1 Make sure the power is on. A welcome message is displayed briefly on the LCD screen, then the standby (Ramp) screen appears. The key and LCD backlights also turn on. 2 Lie down and arrange the air tubing so that it is free to move if you turn in your sleep. ! CAUTION Do not leave long lengths of air tubing around the top of your bed. They could twist around your head or neck while you are sleeping. • Make sure the area around the flow generator is dry and clean.
You can use the S8 ELITE mask-fitting feature to help you fit your mask properly. This feature delivers air pressure for a three-minute period, prior to starting treatment, during which you can check and adjust your mask fit to minimise leaks. Note: Make sure that the mask setting on the MASK screen is the same as the mask you are using. To use the mask-fitting feature: 1 Fit your mask as described in the mask user instructions.

The control panel of the S8 ELITE includes an LCD screen and keypad for navigating through the menus and delivering treatment. ENGLISH HOW TO USE THE KEYPAD LCD screen Up key Right key Left key Start/Stop key Down key LCD SCREEN The LCD screen displays the menus and treatment screens. The LCD backlight turns off after two minutes of inactivity. It turns back on when you press a key. KEYPAD KEYS The S8 ELITE keypad has the following keys: Key Function Start/Stop • Starts or stops treatment.
HOW TO CHANGE THE SETTINGS You can change settings on the S8 ELITE by using the keypad and LCD. When the S8 ELITE is in standby mode you can display a series of screens (a menu) on the LCD screen in order to view and change the settings for a particular function. Your clinician will preset the menu to either a standard view or a detailed view. See “How to Use the Standard Menu” on page 17 and “How to Use the Detailed Menu” on page 19 for more information.
HOW TO USE THE STANDARD MENU ENGLISH Figure 1 shows the standard menu. HOW TO USE THE DETAILED MENU ENGLISH Figure 2 shows the detailed menu.
SETTINGS MENU Select Enter (Left key) on the Settings menu to access the options in this menu. HOW TO CHANGE THE EXPIRATORY PRESSURE RELIEF SETTING Note: EPR may not be available in all regions. Your clinician may have set up your device to deliver expiratory pressure relief (EPR). This can be used to help ease any discomfort you may experience when breathing out during treatment. There are four settings: 1(lowest EPR), 2, 3 (highest EPR) and OFF (no EPR).
HOW TO CHANGE THE LEAK ALERT SETTING Leak alert indicates when a high mask leak is present. Scroll to LEAK ALERT and select Change (Left key). Press the Up or Down keys to change the option to ON or OFF. ENGLISH HOW TO CHANGE THE SMARTSTART SETTING SmartStart enables your device to start automatically when you breathe into the mask. Scroll to SMARTSTART and select Change (Left key). Press the Up or Down keys to change the option to ON or OFF.
MESSAGES ON THE S8 ELITE LCD Your clinician may have set your S8 ELITE to remind you about important events, such as when to replace your mask, when to insert your Data Card (if your device is Data Card enabled), and so on. The reminder message is displayed on the LCD, and is visible if the device is not delivering therapy. The backlight on the LCD flashes when a message is displayed.
Note: Do not remove modules while power is connected to the S8 Elite. Your S8 ELITE will have one of two modules fitted to the back: a blank module or a RESSCAN Data Card module. ENGLISH S8 MODULES USING A BLANK MODULE Please refer to the illustrations in section F of the illustration sheet. The blank module is a protective cover on your S8 ELITE. At times, you may wish to remove or attach the module, for example to use another module.
Hold the Data Card with the arrow facing up, and insert it into the slot in the Data Card module (H-1). • Push the card in smoothly until it stops moving (H-2) and messages start appearing on the LCD. • 2 COPY DATA ONTO THE DATA CARD • Data copying starts automatically when the Data Card is inserted into the Data Card module. • The “Card Inserted Please Wait” message is displayed on the S8 ELITE LCD while data is being copied. Copying takes up to 30 seconds.
You should regularly carry out the cleaning and maintenance described in this section. Refer to your mask manual for detailed instructions. DAILY CLEANING ENGLISH CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE MASK Clean the mask according to the instructions supplied with the mask. AIR TUBING Disconnect the air tubing from the S8 ELITE (and humidifier, if used) and hang the tubing and mask in a clean, dry place until next use.
REPLACING THE AIR FILTER To replace the air filter: 1. Remove the air filter cover at the back of the S8 ELITE. Air filter cover 2. Remove and discard the old air filter. 3. Insert a new filter with the blue tinted side facing out from the device. 4. Replace the air filter cover. Inspect the air filter every month to check if it is blocked by dirt or contains holes.
HOW WILL IT FEEL WHEN I AM BREATHING WITH THE S8 ELITE? When you first use your S8 ELITE, you may feel uncomfortable breathing against the airflow. This is normal. You will continue to breathe normally while you sleep. Take time to adjust to this new sensation. ENGLISH FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT DO I DO WHEN I WANT TO GET UP IN THE NIGHT? If you need to get up during the night, remove your mask and stop therapy. Always remember to restart therapy and put your mask on when you return to bed.
ALTITUDE CHANGES Your S8 ELITE automatically adjusts to changes in altitude up to 2591 m. ON AN AIRCRAFT Please consult the medical services department of your carrier if you intend to use your S8 ELITE on an aircraft. The S8 ELITE complies with US FCC Part 15, Class B requirements if no external data cables are used. Note: Do not use your S8 Elite while the aircraft is taking off or landing.
If there is a problem, try the following suggestions. If the problem cannot be solved, contact your equipment supplier or ResMed. Do not attempt to open the device. Problem Possible Cause Solution No display. Power not connected. Ensure the appropriate power cord is connected to your S8 Elite and the power switch (if available) is on. Insufficient air delivered from S8 Elite. Ramp time is in use. Wait for air pressure to build up or change ramp time. Air filter is dirty. Replace air filter.
Problem Possible Cause Solution There is excessive leak. Adjust position of mask and headgear. Caps may be missing from ports on mask. Replace them. Air tubing not connected properly. Connect firmly at both ends. Air tubing kinked or punctured. Straighten or replace. 30 S8 Elite unit does not stop when you remove your mask. SmartStart/Stop is disabled. Enable SmartStart/Stop. SmartStart is enabled but the flow generator does not stop automatically when you remove your mask.
Possible Cause Solution Display error message: HIGH LEAK!!! Adjust Mask You have experienced excessively high leak levels for more than 20 seconds. Check that your air tubing is connected properly and that your mask does not leak excessively. Use the mask-fitting feature to help you to fit your mask properly. If this message appears again, contact your clinician. Display error message: Exxxx (where xxxx defines an error) Component failure. Return your S8 Elite for servicing.

BEDIENUNG DES S8 ELITE Siehe Illustrationen in Abschnitt D der Illustrationsseite. AUFSTELLEN DES S8 ELITE 1 Stellen Sie das S8 ELITE auf einem Tisch neben dem Kopfende Ihres Bettes auf. VORSICHTSHINWEISE Stellen Sie das System so auf, dass es nicht versehentlich heruntergestoßen werden kann bzw. dass man nicht über das Stromkabel stolpern kann. Hinweis: Sie können Ihr S8 Elite auch auf den Fußboden neben oder unter Ihrem Bett aufstellen.
BEHANDLUNGSBEGINN 1 Vergewissern Sie sich, dass das Gerät eingeschaltet ist. Es erscheint eine kurze Begrüßungsmeldung auf dem LCD-Display. Danach schaltet das Gerät auf den Bereitschaftsbildschirm (Rampe) um. Außerdem leuchten Tastenfeld und LCD-Display auf. 2 Legen Sie sich hin und arrangieren Sie den Atemluftschlauch so, dass Sie beim Schlafen nicht in Ihrer Bewegungsfreiheit gestört werden.
BEENDEN DER BEHANDLUNG Sie können die Behandlung jederzeit durch Abnehmen der Maske bzw. Drücken der Start-/Stopptaste unterbrechen oder BENUTZUNG DER MASKENANLEGEFUNKTION Ihr S8 ELITE ist mit einer Maskenanlegefunktion ausgestattet, die Ihnen die richtige Anpassung Ihrer Maske erleichtert. Bei dieser Funktion wird vor Behandlungsbeginn drei Minuten lang ein Luftdruck zugeführt, um Ihnen Zeit zu geben, den Maskensitz zu korrigieren und so Leckagen zu minimieren.
4 Nach 3 Minuten kehrt der Druck auf den eingestellten Druck zurück und die Behandlung beginnt. • Wenn Sie keine 3 Minuten warten möchten, halten Sie mindestens 3 Sekunden lang die Start-/Stopptaste gedrückt, um die Behandlung sofort zu starten. • Wenn Sie die Start-/Stopptaste nur kurz drücken (weniger als 3 Sekunden), springt das Gerät in den Bereitschaftsmodus zurück (es erscheint der Bildschirm RAMPE).
VERWENDUNG DES BEDIENFELDES LCD-Display Pfeil-nach-oben-Taste Rechte Taste Linke Taste DEUTSCH Die Bedienoberfläche des S8 ELITE besteht aus einem LCD-Display sowie einem Bedienfeld für die Navigation durch die Menüs und die Behandlungszufuhr. Start-/Stopptaste Pfeil-nach-unten-Taste LCD-DISPLAY Das LCD-Display zeigt die Menüs und Behandlungsbildschirme an. Die LCD-Beleuchtung schaltet sich automatisch ab, wenn 2 Minuten lang keine Eingabe gemacht wurde.
Im Bereitschaftsmodus bleiben alle Tasten des S8-Systems beleuchtet. Während der Behandlung schaltet sich die Tastenbeleuchtung 2 Minuten nach der letzten Menüauswahl automatisch ab und die Start-/Stopptaste leuchtet gedimmt weiter. ÄNDERN DER EINSTELLUNGEN Sie können die Einstellungen des S8 ELITE mit Hilfe des Tastenfeldes und des LCDDisplays ändern.

ÄNDERN DER EINSTELLUNG FÜR DIE DRUCKREDUZIERUNG WÄHREND DER EXSPIRATION (EDR) Hinweis: Die EDR ist nicht in allen Regionen erhältlich. Möglicherweise hat Ihr Arzt Ihr Gerät darauf eingestellt, den Druck bei der Exspiration zu reduzieren (EDR). Dadurch kann etwaiges Unbehagen beim Ausatmen vermindert werden.
ÄNDERN DER SMARTSTART-EINSTELLUNG Bei aktivierter SmartStart-Funktion schaltet sich das Gerät automatisch ein, sobald Sie in die Maske atmen. Gehen Sie zu SMARTSTART und wählen Sie „Ändern“ aus (linke Taste). Drücken Sie die Pfeil-nach-oben- oder Pfeil-nach-unten-Tasten, um die Funktion zu aktivieren (EIN) bzw. zu deaktivieren (AUS). ÄNDERN DER EINSTELLUNG DES LECKAGEALARMS Der Leckagealarm macht auf große Leckagen aufmerksam. Gehen Sie zu LECK.-ALARM und wählen Sie „Ändern“ aus (linke Taste).
MELDUNGEN AUF DEM LCD-DISPLAY DES S8 ELITE Ihr Arzt hat möglicherweise Ihr S8 ELITE so eingestellt, dass es Sie an wichtige Ereignisse erinnert, wie z. B. wann Sie sich mit Ihrem Arzt in Verbindung setzen sollen oder Ihre Datenkarte einführen müssen (falls Ihr Gerät datenkartenfähig ist). Die Erinnerungsmeldung wird auf dem LCD-Display angezeigt und ist nur sichtbar, wenn keine Behandlung stattfindet. Die LCD-Beleuchtung blinkt, wenn eine Meldung angezeigt wird.
S8 MODULE Hinweis: Nehmen Sie die Module nicht ab, während das S8 Elite an eine Stromquelle angeschlossen ist. Ihr S8 ELITE ist mit einem von zwei Modulen ausgestattet - entweder mit einer Modulschachtabdeckung oder mit einem RESSCAN Datenkartenmodul. Siehe Illustrationen in Abschnitt F der Illustrationsseite. Die Modulschachtabdeckung ist eine Schutzabdeckung für Ihr S8 ELITE. Diese können Sie je nach Bedarf abnehmen und wieder anschließen, z. B. wenn Sie ein anderes Modul verwenden möchten.
Das Kopieren von Daten auf eine Datenkarte dauert bis zu 30 Sekunden. 1 EINFÜHREN DER DATENKARTE • Schalten Sie das S8 ELITE ein und warten Sie, bis der Bereitschaftsbildschirm erscheint (RAMPE). • Führen Sie die Datenkarte mit dem Pfeil nach oben in den Schlitz am Datenkartenmodul (H-1) ein. • Führen Sie die Karte langsam bis zum Anschlag ein (H-2). Anschließend erscheinen einige Meldungen auf dem LCD-Display.
Hinweis: Diese Meldung erscheint nur einmal. Wird die Datenkarte nach dem Aktualisieren Ihrer Einstellungen erneut eingeführt, erscheint diese Meldung nicht mehr. • Nehmen Sie die Datenkarte aus dem Datenkartenmodul heraus. • Bewahren Sie Ihre Datenkarte im Rückumschlag auf, wenn Sie sie nicht verwenden. WARNUNG Wenn Ihr Arzt Sie gebeten hat, diese Datenkarte zur Aktualisierung der Einstellungen auf Ihrem Gerät zu verwenden und die Meldung „Einst. übernommen.

REINIGUNG UND WARTUNG Die in diesem Abschnitt beschriebenen Reinigungs- und Wartungsabläufe sollten regelmäßig durchgeführt werden. Vollständige Informationen finden Sie in der Bedienungsanleitung Ihrer Maske. MASKE Reinigen Sie die Maske entsprechend den Anweisungen in der mitgelieferten Bedienungsanleitung. ATEMLUFTSCHLAUCH DEUTSCH TÄGLICHE REINIGUNG Nemen Sie den Atemluftschlauch vom S8 ELITE (und ggf.
AUSWECHSELN DES LUFTFILTERS Auswechseln des Luftfilters: 1. Entfernen Sie die Luftfilterabdeckung hinten am S8 ELITE . Luftfilterabdeckung 2. Nehmen Sie den alten Luftfilter heraus und entsorgen Sie ihn. 3. Setzen Sie einen neuen Filter mit der blauen Seite nach außen ein. 4. Schließen Sie die Luftfilterabdeckung wieder. Vergewissern Sie sich einmal pro Monat, dass der Filter weder durch Schmutz blockiert ist noch Löcher aufweist.
HÄUFIG GESTELLTE FRAGEN WAS MUSS ICH TUN, WENN ICH NACHTS AUFSTEHEN MUSS? Wenn Sie in der Nacht aufstehen müssen, nehmen Sie Ihre Maske ab und unterbrechen Sie die Behandlung. Vergessen Sie aber nicht, Ihre Maske wieder aufzusetzen und die Behandlung wieder zu starten, sobald Sie wieder im Bett sind. WAS KANN ICH TUN, WENN ICH MERKE, DASS LUFT AUS DER MASKE AUSTRITT? Die Behandlung mit dem Atemtherapiegerät ist am wirksamsten, wenn die Maske gut und bequem sitzt.
KANN ICH MIT DEM S8 ELITE VERREISEN? BENUTZUNG IM AUSLAND Ihr S8 ELITE Atemtherapiegerät ist mit einem internen Netzteil ausgestattet, mit dem Sie das Gerät auch in anderen Ländern benutzen können. Er kann bei 100–240 V und 50/60 Hz betrieben werden. Spezielle Einstellungen sind nicht notwendig, Sie benötigen jedoch evtl. einen Adapter für die entsprechende Steckdose.
FEHLERSUCHE Problem Mögliche Ursache Maßnahme Keine Anzeige. Stromkabel ist nicht angeschlossen. Prüfen Sie, ob das Stromkabel an Ihrem S8 Elite angeschlossen und ggf. der Schalter an der Steckdose eingeschaltet ist. Luftstrom, der vom S8 Elite zugeführt wird, ist unzureichend. Die Rampenzeit ist aktiviert. Warten Sie, bis der Luftdruck gestiegen ist oder ändern Sie die Rampenzeit. Luftfiltereinsatz ist verschmutzt. Wechseln Sie den Luftfiltereinsatz aus. Knick oder Loch im Atemluftschlauch.
Problem Mögliche Ursache Maßnahme Sie verwenden eine Mirage- oder Ultra Mirage Full Face Maske. SmartStart kann bei einer Full Face Maske nicht eingesetzt werden, da das Anti-AsphyxieVentil keinen ausreichend hohen Druck beim Ausatmen zulässt. Der Atemzug war nicht tief genug, um SmartStart auszulösen. Atmen Sie tief ein und dann durch die Maske aus. Übermäßig große Leckage. Korrigieren Sie den Sitz der Maske bzw. des Kopfbandes.
Mögliche Ursache Maßnahme Fehlermeldung: Schlauch prüfen!! Drücken Sie dann eine beliebige Taste. Der Atemluftschlauch ist lose oder verstopft. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Atemluftschlauch sicher an Ihrer Maske und am Luftauslass an der Vorderseite des S8 Elite angebracht ist. Wenn Sie den Atemluftschlauch überprüft haben, drücken Sie die Start-/Stopptaste um das Gerät zu starten.

Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Gerät eingeschaltet ist und sich im Bereitschaftsmodus befindet, bevor Sie die Datenkarte einführen.

Ce manuel utilisateur contient les informations dont vous avez besoin pour pouvoir utiliser votre S8 ELITE correctement.

Les conseils donnés dans ce manuel ne remplacent pas les instructions du médecin traitant. • Un patient ne doit connecter aucun appareil au port de communication de données sauf si son prestataire de santé ou son médecin lui a demandé de le faire. Seuls les produits ResMed peuvent être connectés au port de communication de données. La connexion d’autres appareils peut causer des blessures ou endommager la S8 ELITE.

! AVERTISSEMENT Pour performance optimale, la S8 Elite doit être utilisée avec des masques ResMed. Veuillez vous référer à la section « Avertissements » page 94. HUMIDIFICATEUR Veuillez vous référer à la figure de la section B de la fiche d'illustrations. Il est possible que vous ayez besoin d’un humidificateur pour pallier les problèmes de sécheresse nasale, buccale ou de la gorge auxquels vous êtes confronté. La S8 ELITE est compatible avec l’humidificateur chauffant intégré HUMIDAIRE 3i.
UTILISATION DE LA S8 ELITE Veuillez vous référer aux figures de la section D de la fiche d’illustrations. INSTALLATION DE LA S8 ELITE 1 Placez la S8 ELITE sur une table à proximité du dosseret de votre lit. ! ATTENTION Veiller à placer l’appareil de façon à éviter que quelqu’un puisse le faire tomber ou se prendre les pieds dans le câble d’alimentation. Remarque : vous pouvez également placer la S8 Elite par terre, à côté de votre lit ou dessous.
DEBUT DU TRAITEMENT 1 Vérifiez que l’appareil est sous tension. Un message de bienvenue s’affiche brièvement sur l’écran LCD avant l’affichage de l’écran d’attente (Rampe). Le rétro-éclairage du clavier et celui de l’écran LCD s’allument également. 2 Allongez-vous et placez le circuit respiratoire de manière à ce qu’il puisse suivre vos mouvements pendant que vous dormez. ! ATTENTION Ne pas laisser de longueurs inutiles de tuyau en haut du lit.
ARRET DU TRAITEMENT Pour arrêter le traitement à tout moment, retirez votre masque et appuyez sur la touche Marche/Arrêt ou si votre clinicien a activé SmartStart, retirez simplement votre masque pour arrêter le traitement. UTILISATION DE LA FONCTION D’AJUSTEMENT DU MASQUE Vous pouvez également vous servir de la fonction d’ajustement du masque de la S8 ELITE pour vous aider à mettre votre masque correctement en place.
4 Au bout de trois minutes, la pression réglée est restaurée et le traitement commence. Si vous ne voulez pas attendre trois minutes, maintenez la touche Marche/Arrêt enfoncée pendant au moins trois secondes pour commencer le traitement immédiatement. • Si vous appuyez sur la touche Marche/Arrêt pendant moins de 3 secondes, l’appareil retourne en mode d’attente (l’écran RAMPE s’affiche).
UTILISATION DU CLAVIER Le panneau de contrôle de la S8 ELITE comprend un écran LCD et un clavier pour naviguer dans les écrans de menu et délivrer le traitement. Ecran LCD Touche de déplacement vers le haut Touche de droite Touche de gauche Touche Marche/Arrêt Touche de déplacement vers le bas ECRAN LCD Les menus et les écrans de traitement s’affichent sur l’écran LCD. Le rétro-éclairage de l’écran LCD s’éteint au bout de deux minutes d’inactivité. Il se rallume lorsque vous appuyez sur une touche.
Touche Fonction Gauche • Permet d’exécuter la fonction indiquée par le texte d’explication affiché sur l’écran LCD au-dessus de cette touche. Le texte d’explication comprend les éléments suivants : menu, changer et appliquer. Droite • Permet d’exécuter la fonction indiquée par le texte d’explication affiché sur l’écran LCD au-dessus de cette touche. Le texte d’explication comprend les éléments suivants : quitter et annuler. Lorsque la S8 est en mode d’attente, toutes les touches sont allumées.
POUR QUITTER UNE OPTION DU MENU Appuyez sur la touche de droite (Quit). POUR MODIFIER LA DUREE DE RAMPE Pendant la durée de rampe, la pression augmente d’une pression basse confortable à la pression prescrite pour le traitement. Vous pouvez régler la durée de rampe par incréments de 5 minutes sur une valeur comprise entre 0 (OFF) et la durée de rampe maximum réglée par votre clinicien. La durée de rampe actuelle est affichée dans le coin droit de l’écran d’attente.

MENU REGLAGES Sélectionnez Entrée (touche de gauche) dans le menu Réglages pour accéder aux options de ce menu. POUR MODIFIER LE REGLAGE DE L’AIDE EXPIRATOIRE Remarque : la fonction d’EPR n’est pas disponible dans tous les pays. Votre clinicien peut avoir réglé votre appareil pour qu’il délivre une aide expiratoire (EPR). Cette fonction peut s’avérer utile pour soulager toute gêne que vous pourriez éventuellement ressentir durant le traitement lorsque vous expirez.
POUR MODIFIER LE REGLAGE DE LA FONCTION SMARTSTART SmartStart permet à votre appareil de démarrer automatiquement lorsque vous respirez dans le masque. Faites défiler les options jusqu’à l’affichage de SMARTSTART, puis sélectionnez Changer (touche de gauche). Appuyez sur la touche de déplacement vers le haut ou de déplacement vers le bas pour faire passer l’option sur ON ou OFF. POUR MODIFIER LE REGLAGE DE L’ALARME DE FUITE L’alarme de fuite vous signale la présence d’une fuite au masque élevée.
MESSAGES AFFICHES SUR L’ECRAN LCD DE LA S8 ELITE Votre clinicien a peut-être réglé votre S8 ELITE pour qu’elle vous rappelle des choses importantes, comme le moment où vous devez remplacer votre masque, le moment où vous devez insérer votre carte de données (si votre appareil est activé pour la carte de données), etc. Le message de rappel s’affiche sur l’écran LCD et peut être lu même lorsque l’appareil ne délivre pas de traitement. Le rétro-éclairage de l’écran LCD clignote lorsqu’un message s’affiche.
MODULES S8 Remarque : ne retirez pas les modules lorsque la S8 Elite est sous tension. L’un des deux modules suivants est fixé à l’arrière de votre S8 ELITE : un module vierge ou un module de carte de données RESSCAN. UTILISATION D’UN MODULE VIERGE Veuillez vous référer aux figures de la section F de la fiche d’illustrations. Le module vierge est un cache de protection pour votre S8 ELITE. Vous aurez éventuellement besoin d’enlever ou de fixer le module, par exemple pour utiliser un autre module.
1 INSERTION DE LA CARTE DE DONNEES • Mettez la S8 ELITE sous tension et attendez que l’écran d’attente (RAMPE) s’affiche. • Prenez la carte de données avec la flèche dirigée vers le haut et insérez-la dans la fente du module de carte de données (H-1). • Poussez la carte sans forcer jusqu’à la butée (H-2) et jusqu’à ce que des messages commencent à s’afficher sur l’écran LCD.
Remarque : ce message ne s’affiche qu’une seule fois. Si vous insérez la carte de données une nouvelle fois après avoir mis vos réglages à jour, il ne s’affiche pas. • Retirez la carte de données du module de carte de données. • La carte de données doit être conservée dans son enveloppe de retour lorsqu’elle n’est pas utilisée. ! NETTOYAGE ET ENTRETIEN Vous devez effectuer régulièrement le nettoyage et l’entretien décrits dans cette section. Veuillez vous référer au manuel du masque pour les instructions détaillées. NETTOYAGE QUOTIDIEN MASQUE Nettoyez le masque conformément aux instructions fournies. CIRCUIT RESPIRATOIRE Détachez le circuit respiratoire au niveau de la S8 ELITE (et de l’humidificateur le cas échéant) et suspendez le circuit respiratoire et le masque dans un endroit propre et sec jusqu’à la prochaine utilisation.
REMPLACEMENT DU FILTRE A AIR Pour remplacer le filtre à air : 1. Retirez le couvercle du logement du filtre à air à l’arrière de la S8 ELITE. Couvercle du logement du filtre à air 2. Retirez et jetez le filtre à air usagé. 3. Insérez un nouveau filtre à air avec la face bleue dirigée vers l’extérieur. 4. Remettez le couvercle du logement du filtre à air en place. Inspectez le filtre à air une fois par mois pour vérifier qu’il n’est ni obstrué ni percé.
FOIRE AUX QUESTIONS QUELLE SENSATION EST-CE QUE JE VAIS RESSENTIR LA PREMIERE FOIS QUE JE RESPIRERAI AVEC LA S8 ELITE ? Lors de la première utilisation de votre S8 ELITE, il est possible que vous ressentiez une gêne lorsque vous respirez contre le débit d’air. Ceci est normal. Vous continuerez à respirer normalement pendant que vous dormez. Prenez le temps de vous habituer à cette nouvelle sensation.
J’AI LE NEZ IRRITE PENDANT LE TRAITEMENT — QU’EST-CE QUE JE PEUX FAIRE ? Il est possible que vous éternuiez et/ou que votre nez coule ou se bouche lors des premières semaines de traitement. Dans de nombreux cas, ces symptômes d’irritation nasale peuvent être éliminés à l’aide d’un humidificateur. Consultez votre clinicien ou votre prestataire de santé pour plus de détails.
STRATEGIE DE DEPANNAGE En cas de problème, reportez-vous aux suggestions suivantes. Si le problème persiste, contactez votre prestataire de santé ou ResMed. N’essayez pas d’ouvrir l’appareil. INTRODUZIONE Grazie per avere scelto il generatore di flusso S8 ELITE™. L’S8 ELITE è un’unità compatta dotata di alimentatore autonomo a cui possono essere aggiunti moduli di espansione per la gestione integrata dei dati e l’umidificazione. Questo manuale per l’utente contiene tutte le informazioni di cui avrete bisogno per utilizzare l’S8 ELITE. VOSTRE RESPONSABILITÀ Si prega di leggere attentamente questo manuale prima dell’uso.
AVVERTENZE Prima di utilizzare l’S8 ELITE si consiglia di leggerne per intero il manuale. Le indicazioni contenute in questo manuale non hanno la precedenza sulle istruzioni impartite dal medico che ha prescritto il trattamento. • Il paziente non deve collegare un dispositivo alla porta dati a meno che non abbia ricevuto istruzioni in questo senso da un medico o fornitore di assistenza medica. La porta per il trasferimento dei dati è compatibile per il collegamento solo con prodotti ResMed.
Nota: Ad un flusso fisso di ossigeno supplementare, la concentrazione dell’ossigeno inspirato varia a seconda del punto in cui viene introdotto l’ossigeno, delle impostazioni di pressione, dell’andamento della respirazione del paziente, della maschera scelta e del coefficiente di perdite. • Non utilizzare l’S8 ELITE se esso presenta evidenti difetti esterni o in caso di inspiegabili anomalie nel suo funzionamento. • Non aprire l’involucro dell’S8 ELITE .

USO DELL’S8 ELITE Si rimanda alle illustrazioni nella sezione D del foglio delle illustrazioni. CONFIGURAZIONE DEL SISTEMA 1 Collocare l’S8 ELITE su un tavolino accanto alla testata del proprio letto. ! PRECAUZIONE Assicurarsi che l’apparecchio non sia collocato in una posizione dove possa venire urtato o dove qualcuno possa inciampare nel suo cavo di alimentazione. Nota: Alternativamente l’apparecchio può essere collocato sul pavimento, sia vicino al letto che sotto di esso.
AVVIO DEL TRATTAMENTO 1 Assicurarsi che l’apparecchio sia acceso. Un messaggio di benvenuto viene visualizzato per qualche istante sullo schermo a cristalli liquidi, seguito dalla schermata di stand-by (Incremento). Si attiva inoltre la retroilluminazione del tastierino e dello schermo a cristalli liquidi. 2 Sdraiarsi e sistemare il tubo dell’aria in modo che sia libero di muoversi se ci si rigira durante il sonno.
USO DELLA FUNZIONE DI INSTALLAZIONE DELLA MASCHERA La funzione di installazione della maschera dell’S8 ELITE può essere utilizzata per migliorare la tenuta della maschera. Questo dispositivo somministra un flusso d’aria pressurizzata per un periodo di tre minuti prima dell’inizio del trattamento, in modo che si possa verificare la tenuta della maschera ed eventualmente sistemarla meglio in modo da ridurre al minimo le perdite d’aria.
4 Dopo tre minuti la pressione scenderà al valore di impostazione e il trattamento avrà inizio. • Se non si desidera attendere che siano trascorsi i tre minuti, tenere premuto il tasto di avvio/stop per almeno tre secondi e il trattamento avrà subito inizio. • Se invece si preme il pulsante di avvio/stop per meno di tre secondi, l'apparecchio tornerà in modalità stand-by (e verrà visualizzata la schermata Incremento).
USO DEL TASTIERINO Il pannello di controllo dell’S8 ELITE comprende uno schermo a cristalli liquidi e un tastierino che permettono di accedere ai menu e di somministrare il trattamento. Schermo a cristalli liquidi Tasto su Tasto destro Tasto sinistro Tasto di avvio/stop Tasto giù SCHERMO A CRISTALLI LIQUIDI La retroilluminazione dello schermo a cristalli liquidi si spegne dopo due minuti dall’ultima operazione effettuata. Essa si riattiva non appena si preme un tasto.
Quando l’S8 si trova in modalità stand-by tutti i tasti restano accesi. Durante la terapia la retroilluminazione del tastierino si spegne dopo due minuti di inattività e la luce del tasto di avvio/stop si affievolisce. MODIFICA DELLE IMPOSTAZIONI Tramite il tastierino e lo schermo a cristalli liquidi è possibile modificare le impostazioni dell’S8 ELITE.
USO DEL MENU STANDARD La Figura1 mostra il menu standard. MENU IMPOSTAZIONI Selezionare Entra (tasto sinistro) nel menu impostazioni per accedere alle opzioni di questo menu. MODIFICA DELL’IMPOSTAZIONE DELL’AIUTO ESPIRATORIO Nota: L’AE può non risultare disponibile in tutti i paesi. Il medico potrebbe avere impostato l’apparecchio in modo da fornire l’aiuto espiratorio (AE). Esso può essere usato per alleviare l’eventuale fastidio provato durante l’espirazione nel corso della terapia.
Spostarsi su SMARTSTART e selezionare Cambia (tasto sinistro). Premere il tasto su o giù per selezionare ON o OFF. MODIFICA DELL’IMPOSTAZIONE DELL’ALLARME FUGHE Se abilitato, l’allarme delle fughe avverte l’utilizzatore del verificarsi di forti perdite dalla maschera. Spostarsi su ALL. FUGHE e selezionare Cambia (tasto sinistro). Premere il tasto su o giù per selezionare ON o OFF. MENU RISULTATI Selezionare Entra (tasto sinistro) nel menu Risultati per accedere alle opzioni di questo menu.
MESSAGGI SULLO SCHERMO A CRISTALLI LIQUIDI DELL’S8 ELITE Il medico potrebbe avere impostato l’S8 ELITE perché vi rammenti eventi importanti, come il momento in cui va sostituita la maschera, quando va inserita la Data Card (se l’apparecchio è abilitato al suo uso) e così via. I promemoria vengono mostrati sullo schermo a cristalli liquidi quando l’apparecchio non somministra la terapia. Quando un messaggio viene visualizzato, la luce di fondo dello schermo a cristalli liquidi lampeggia.
MODULI Nota: Non rimuovere un modulo quando l’S8 Elite è collegato alla presa di corrente. L’S8 ELITE può essere collegato sul retro a un modulo, tra i due a disposizione, ovvero: un falso modulo o il modulo per Data Card di RESSCAN. USO DEL FALSO MODULO Si rimanda alle illustrazioni nella sezione F del foglio delle illustrazioni. Il falso modulo funge da coperchio protettivo per l’S8 ELITE.
1 INSERIMENTO DELLA DATA CARD • Accendere l’S8 ELITE e attendere che sullo schermo a cristalli liquidi compaia la schermata di stand-by (Incremento). • Tenere la Data Card in modo che la freccia compaia sulla faccia superiore e inserire la scheda nell’alloggiamento del modulo (H-1). • Spingere la scheda senza forzarla fino a che non è più libera di muoversi (H-2) e sullo schermo a cristalli liquidi cominciano a comparire dei messaggi.
• • AVVERTENZA Se il medico ha dato istruzioni di usare questa Data Card per l’aggiornamento delle impostazioni dell’apparecchio e non è comparso il messaggio “Impst caricate”, contattare immediatamente il medico. ITALIANO ! Estrarre la Data Card dal modulo. La scheda Data Card va rimessa nella sua busta quando non è in uso.

PULIZIA E MANUTENZIONE Le operazioni di pulizia e di manutenzione descritte in questa sezione vanno eseguite regolarmente. Per istruzioni dettagliate vedere il manuale della maschera. PULIZIA QUOTIDIANA MASCHERA Pulire la maschera seguendo le indicazioni riportate nel suo manuale. TUBO DELL’ARIA Staccare il tubo dell’aria dal sistema S8 ELITE (e dall’umidificatore, se utilizzato) e riporre il tubo e la maschera in un luogo asciutto e pulito fino all’utilizzo successivo.
SOSTITUZIONE DEL FILTRO DELL’ARIA Per sostituire il filtro dell’aria occorre: 1. Rimuovere il coperchio del filtro dell’aria situato sul retro dell’S8 ELITE. Coperchio del filtro dell’aria 2. Staccare e gettare il vecchio filtro. 3. Inserire un nuovo filtro, con il lato colorato di blu rivolto verso l’esterno. 4. Rimettere il coperchio del filtro dell’aria. Ispezionare il filtro dell’aria mensilmente onde verificare che non sia ostruito dalla polvere e che non contenga fori.
DOMANDE PIÙ FREQUENTI CHE SENSAZIONE SI PROVA A RESPIRARE CON L’S8 ELITE? Quando si inizia ad utilizzare il sistema S8 ELITE può capitare di provare una sensazione di disagio nel respirare contro il flusso dell'aria in fase espiratoria. Si tratta di una reazione comune. Durante il sonno si continuerà a respirare normalmente. Occorre dare a se stessi il tempo di abituarsi a questa nuova sensazione.
HO IL NASO IRRITATO DURANTE IL TRATTAMENTO—COSA POSSO FARE? Durante le prime settimane di trattamento può capitare di starnutire eccessivamente o di andare soggetti a congestione o gocciolamento del naso. In molti casi queste irritazioni nasali possono essere eliminate ricorrendo a un umidificatore. Rivolgersi al proprio medico o fornitore di apparecchiature mediche per una consulenza.
RISOLUZIONE DEI PROBLEMI Problema Possibile causa Soluzione Lo schermo a cristalli liquidi non visualizza nulla. L’apparecchio non è attaccato a una fonte di energia elettrica. Assicurarsi che l’S8 Elite sia collegato ad un cavo di alimentazione di tipo corretto e che l’interruttore di attivazione della corrente, se ve ne è uno, sia acceso. L’S8 Elite somministra una quantità d’aria insufficiente. Si sta facendo uso di un tempo di incremento o stabilizzazione.
Problema Possibile causa Soluzione Si fa uso di una maschera Mirage o Ultra Mirage Full Face. Il dispositivo SmartStart non funziona con le maschere facciali in quanto la valvola anti-asfissia non permette una pressione sufficientemente alta al momento dell’espirazione. La respirazione non è abbastanza profonda per far scattare il dispositivo SmartStart. Inspirare ed espirare profondamente attraverso la maschera. Si è verificata una perdita d’aria eccessiva. Sistemare la maschera e il copricapo.

Accertarsi che il tubo dell’aria sia collegato in maniera corretta e che la maschera non presenti perdite eccessive. Utilizzare la funzione di installazione della maschera per ottenere una migliore tenuta.

INTRODUCCIÓN Gracias por elegir el generador de aire S8 ELITE™. El S8 ELITE es una unidad compacta con una fuente de alimentación integrada y con opciones para gestión de datos y humidificación integradas. El presente manual del usuario contiene la información necesaria para un uso correcto del S8 ELITE.
ADVERTENCIAS Se debe leer todo el manual antes de usar el S8 ELITE. Los consejos que se dan en este manual no deben sustituir las instrucciones dadas por el médico que indica el tratamiento. • El paciente no debe conectar ningún dispositivo en el puerto de comunicación de datos a menos que su médico o proveedor de asistencia sanitaria se lo indique. Únicamente los productos ResMed han sido diseñados para ser conectados al puerto de comunicación de datos.
Nota: A un caudal fijo de oxígeno suplementario, la concentración de oxígeno inhalado variará dependiendo del punto en que éste se introduce, los ajustes de presión programados, el ritmo de respiración del paciente, la mascarilla elegida y el nivel de fuga. • No utilice el S8 ELITE si presenta defectos externos obvios u ocurren cambios inexplicados en su funcionamiento. • No abra la carcasa del S8 ELITE . EL SISTEMA S8 ELITE El equipo S8 ELITE es parte de un sistema que está integrado por cinco elementos: • Generador de aire S8 ELITE • Mascarilla • Humidificador • Productos de gestión de datos • Accesorios. S8 ELITE Consulte las figuras en la sección A de la hoja de figuras. VISTA FRONTAL (A-1) Muestra el teclado, el visor y la salida de aire. VISTA POSTERIOR (A-2) Muestra dónde se acopla el módulo y la ubicación del filtro de aire y de los enchufes de alimentación.
! ADVERTENCIA Únicamente los sistemas de mascarillas ResMed son compatibles para su uso con el S8 Elite. Sírvase remitirse a “Advertencias” en la página 184. HUMIDIFICADOR Consulte la figura en la sección B de la hoja de figuras. Si experimenta sequedad de la nariz, boca o garganta, es posible que necesite utilizar un humidificador. El S8 ELITE es compatible para ser usado con el humidificador térmico integrado HUMIDAIRE 3i.
CÓMO USAR EL S8 ELITE Consulte las figuras en la sección D de la hoja de figuras. INSTALACIÓN DEL S8 ELITE 1 Coloque el S8 ELITE en una mesa cerca de la cabecera de su cama. ! PRECAUCIÓN Tenga cuidado de no colocar el equipo en un lugar donde pueda ser golpeado o donde alguien pueda tropezar con el cable de alimentación. Nota: También puede colocar el S8 Elite en el suelo, al lado o debajo de la cama.
INICIO DEL TRATAMIENTO 1 Asegúrese de que la alimentación esté encendida. En el visor aparecerá brevemente un mensaje de bienvenida, después aparece la pantalla de espera (Rampa). También se encienden las luces de fondo del teclado y del visor. 2 Acuéstese y acomode el tubo de aire de forma que pueda moverse libremente si se da la vuelta mientras duerme. ! PRECAUCIÓN No deje largos tramos de tubo de aire encima de la cabecera de su cama.
o bien si su médico ha activado la función SmartStart, simplemente quítese la mascarilla y el tratamiento se detendrá. USO DE LA FUNCIÓN AJUSTE DE MASCARILLA Puede usar la función Ajuste de mascarilla del S8 ELITE para ayudarse a obtener un ajuste adecuado. Esta función suministra presión de aire durante tres minutos antes del inicio del tratamiento a fin de que usted pueda verificar y optimizar el ajuste de la mascarilla para minimizar las fugas.
4 Después de 3 minutos la presión bajará al mínimo preestablecido y se iniciará el tratamiento. • Si no quisiera esperar tres minutos, oprima y mantenga presionada la tecla Inicio/Parada durante al menos tres segundos y el tratamiento comenzará inmediatamente. • Si oprime la tecla Inicio/Parada durante menos de tres segundos, la unidad volverá al modo de espera (se verá la pantalla de RAMPA).
CÓMO UTILIZAR EL TECLADO El panel de control del S8 ELITE incluye un visor y un teclado para navegar por los menús y suministrar el tratamiento. Visor Tecla Superior Tecla Derecha Tecla Izquierda Tecla Inicio/Parada Tecla Inferior VISOR En el visor aparecen los menús y las pantallas de tratamiento. La luz de fondo del visor se apaga después de dos minutos de inactividad. Se enciende nuevamente al presionar una tecla. TECLADO Tecla Función Inicio/Parada • Inicia o detiene el tratamiento.
Cuando el equipo S8 está en modo de espera, todas las teclas permanecen encendidas. Durante el tratamiento, la luz de fondo del teclado se apaga transcurridos dos minutos de inactividad, y la tecla Inicio/Parada se atenúa. CÓMO CAMBIAR LOS PARÁMETROS Puede cambiar los parámetros del S8 ELITE por medio del teclado y el visor. Cuando el S8 ELITE está en modo de espera, puede navegar por una serie de pantallas (un menú) en el visor a efectos de ver y cambiar los parámetros de una función determinada.
CÓMO USAR EL MENÚ ESTÁNDAR La Figura 1 muestra el menú estándar. CÓMO CAMBIAR LA CONFIGURACIÓN DE LA OPCIÓN ALIVIO DE PRESIÓN Nota: es posible que el APE no esté disponible en todas las regiones.

MENÚ PARÁMETROS Para acceder a las opciones de este menú seleccione Intro (tecla Izquierda) en el menú Parámetros. CÓMO CAMBIAR LA CONFIGURACIÓN DE LA OPCIÓN ALIVIO DE PRESIÓN ESPIRATORIA Nota: es posible que el APE no esté disponible en todas las regiones. Su médico tal vez haya configurado su dispositivo para que suministre un alivio de presión espiratoria (APE). Esto le puede ayudar a aliviar la incomodidad que tal vez experimente al espirar mientras recibe el tratamiento.
CÓMO CAMBIAR LA CONFIGURACIÓN DE SMARTSTART SmartStart le permite a su equipo iniciar el tratamiento automáticamente cuando usted respira en la mascarilla. Desplácese hasta SMARTSTART y seleccione Cambiar (tecla Izquierda). Oprima las teclas Superior o Inferior para cambiar la opción a APAGADA o ENCENDIDA. CÓMO CAMBIAR LA CONFIGURACIÓN DE LA ALERTA DE FUGA La Alerta de fuga indica cuándo hay un fuga elevada por la mascarilla. Desplácese hasta ALERTA DE FUGA y seleccione Cambiar (tecla Izquierda).
Su médico puede configurar cualquiera de los siguientes recordatorios en su visor: 200 Mensaje Descripción Acción INSERTAR TARJETA Puede aparecer si su equipo es compatible con la Tarjeta de datos. Inserte la Tarjeta de datos (consulte la sección H de la hoja de figuras) y siga las instrucciones que su médico le haya dado. Una vez que lo haya hecho, el mensaje desaparecerá del visor. Si oprime la tecla Izquierda (Aceptar), el mensaje también desaparecerá.
MÓDULOS DEL S8 Nota: No separe ningún módulo mientras el S8 Elite esté conectado a la fuente de alimentación. Su S8 ELITE tendrá uno de los siguientes módulos en la parte trasera: un módulo en blanco o un módulo Tarjeta de datos RESSCAN. USO DE UN MÓDULO EN BLANCO Consulte las figuras en la sección F de la hoja de figuras. El módulo en blanco es una cubierta protectora para su S8 ELITE. En determinadas situaciones tal vez desee retirar o conectar este módulo, por ejemplo para usar otro módulo.
Los datos que se copien a la Tarjeta de datos quedan igualmente almacenados y disponibles en el S8 ELITE. La copia de datos a la Tarjeta de datos puede tardar un máximo de 30 segundos. 1 INSERTE LA TARJETA DE DATOS • Encienda el S8 ELITE y espere hasta que vea la pantalla de espera (RAMPA). • Tome en su mano la Tarjeta de datos de manera que la flecha apunte hacia arriba e insértela en la ranura del módulo Tarjeta de datos (H-1).
Nota: Este mensaje aparece sólo una vez. Si vuelve a insertar la Tarjeta de datos después de haber actualizado la configuración, el mensaje no volverá a aparecer. • Retire la Tarjeta de datos del módulo Tarjeta de datos. • Cuando no esté en uso, guarde la Tarjeta de datos en su sobre de retorno postal. ADVERTENCIA Si su médico le ha indicado que use la Tarjeta de datos para actualizar la configuración de su equipo y el mensaje “Configuración correcta” no aparece, comuníquese inmediatamente con su médico.

LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO Debe efectuar regularmente la limpieza y el mantenimiento descritos en esta sección. Para tener instrucciones más detalladas remítase al manual de la mascarilla. LIMPIEZA DIARIA MASCARILLA Limpie la mascarilla de acuerdo con las instrucciones que se suministran con la misma. TUBO DE AIRE Desconecte el tubo de aire del S8 ELITE (y, si se está usando, del humidificador) y cuelgue el tubo de aire y la mascarilla en un lugar limpio y seco hasta el próximo uso.
CAMBIO DEL FILTRO DE AIRE Para cambiar el filtro de aire: 1. Retire la tapa del filtro de aire en la parte trasera del S8 ELITE . Cubierta del filtro de aire 2. Retire y deseche el viejo filtro de aire. 3. Inserte un filtro nuevo colocándolo con el lado pintado de azul hacia fuera del equipo. 4. Vuelva a colocar la cubierta del filtro de aire. Inspeccione el filtro de aire todos los meses para verificar que no esté bloqueado por suciedad y que no tenga agujeros.
PREGUNTAS FRECUENTES ¿QUÉ SENSACIÓN SE TIENE AL RESPIRAR CON EL S8 ELITE? Puede ocurrir que la primera vez que utilice el S8 ELITE se sienta incómodo por el hecho de respirar contra el flujo de aire. Esto es normal. Usted seguirá respirando normalmente mientras duerme. Tómese su tiempo para adaptarse a esta nueva sensación. ¿QUÉ HAGO EN CASO DE QUERERME LEVANTAR POR LA NOCHE? Si tiene que levantarse por la noche, quítese la mascarilla y detenga el tratamiento.
¿PUEDO VIAJAR CON EL S8 ELITE? USO INTERNACIONAL Su generador de aire S8 ELITE tiene una alimentación interna que le permite funcionar en otros países. Puede funcionar con suministros de corriente de 100–240 V y 50/60 Hz. No es necesario realizar ningún ajuste especial, pero es posible que necesite un adaptador para la toma de corriente. CAMBIOS DE ALTITUD Su S8 ELITE se ajusta automáticamente a los cambios de altitud hasta los 2591 m.
SOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS Problema Causa posible Solución No se ve nada en la pantalla. La alimentación no está conectada. Verifique que el cable de alimentación adecuado esté conectado al S8 Elite y que el interruptor de la fuente de alimentación o toma de corriente (en caso de haberlo) esté encendido. El S8 Elite no está proporcionando suficiente aire. Se está usando el Tiempo de Rampa. Espere a que la presión del aire aumente o modifique el Tiempo de rampa. El filtro de aire está sucio.
Problema Causa posible Solución Uso de una Mascarilla Facial Ultra Mirage o Mirage. SmartStart no funciona con una mascarilla facial, ya que la válvula antiasfixia no permitirá que se genere la suficiente presión al espirar. La respiración no es lo suficientemente profunda para hacer funcionar la SmartStart. Inhale y exhale profundamente a través de la mascarilla. Hay una fuga excesiva. Ajuste la posición de la mascarilla y del arnés.
Causa posible Solución Aparece un mensaje de error en el visor: ERROR DE SISTEMA ¡Llamar Servicio! Fallo de un componente. Lleve el S8 Elite al servicio de mantenimiento. Aparece un mensaje de error en el visor: Fuga grave en última sesión Usted presentó niveles excesivamente elevados de fuga durante la noche. Verifique que el tubo de aire esté debidamente conectado y que no haya fugas excesivas por la mascarilla. Sírvase de la función Ajuste de mascarilla para obtener un ajuste adecuado.

3 Verifique que o parâmetro de máscara no ecrã de MÁSCARA é o recomendado para a máscara que está a usar (consulte a tabela na secção de “Como seleccionar o tipo de máscara” na página 239). O S8 ELITE está agora pronto a ser utilizado (D-4). INICIAR O TRATAMENTO 1 Certifique-se de que a unidade se encontra ligada. Uma mensagem de boas vindas aparecerá brevemente no mostrador LCD, seguida pelo ecrã de espera (Subida). A retroiluminação do teclado e do mostrador LCD também será activada.
Nota: Não active o SmartStart quando estiver a usar uma máscara com uma válvula de anti-asfixia, como é o caso da Máscara Mirage Facial. PARAR O TRATAMENTO Para parar o tratamento a qualquer altura, remova a sua máscara e prima a tecla Iniciar/Parar ou se o seu médico tiver activado a função SmartStart, basta-lhe simplesmente remover a máscara para parar o tratamento.
Assim que tiver obtido um ajuste seguro e confortável, verifique a classificação por estrelas do ajuste de máscara no mostrador de LCD. O quadro 1 explica a classificação por estrelas do ajuste de máscara. Nota: Se houver uma pessoa perto de si para verificar a classificação por estrelas do ajuste de máscara, você pode ajustar a sua máscara, almofada da máscara e arnês enquanto está deitado. 4 Após três minutos, a pressão retorna à pressão programada e o tratamento é iniciado.
COMO USAR O TECLADO O painel de controle do S8 ELITE inclui um mostrador LCD e teclado para que se possa percorrer os menus e administrar o tratamento. Mostrador LCD Tecla Para cima Tecla Direita Tecla Esquerda Tecla Iniciar/Parar Tecla Para baixo MOSTRADOR LCD O ecrã de LCD apresenta os menus e os ecrãs de tratamento. A retroiluminação do mostrador LCD desliga-se automaticamente após dois minutos de inactividade. A mesma volta a ser activada assim que prima uma tecla.
Quando o dispositivo S8 se encontra no modo de espera, todas as teclas encontrar-se-ão acesas. Durante o tratamento, a retroiluminação do mostrador LCD desliga-se automaticamente após dois minutos de inactividade e a luminosidade da tecla Iniciar/Parar é reduzida. COMO ALTERAR OS PARÂMETROS Pode alterar os parâmetros no S8 ELITE usando o teclado e o mostrador LCD.
COMO USAR O MENU STANDARD A Figura 1 apresenta o menu standard. MENU DE PARÂMETROS Seleccione Entrar (tecla Esquerda) no menu de parâmetros para aceder às opções neste menu. COMO ALTERAR O PARÂMETRO DE ALÍVIO DE PRESSÃO EXPIRATÓRIA Nota: APE não se encontra disponível em certas regiões. O seu médico poderá ter programado o dispositivo para administrar alívio de pressão expiratória (APE). Isto pode ser utilizado para reduzir qualquer desconforto que possa vir a sentir enquanto que respira durante o tratamento.
COMO ALTERAR O PARÂMETRO SMARTSTART O SmartStart permite que o seu dispositivo arranque automaticamente quando respira para dentro da máscara. Dirija-se a SMARTSTART e seleccione Alterar (tecla Esquerda). Prima a tecla Para cima ou Para baixo de forma a alterar a opção para LIGADO ou DESLIGADO. COMO ALTERAR O PARÂMETRO DE ALERTA DE FUGA O alerta de fuga indica a presença de uma fuga de ar grande na máscara. Dirija-se a ALERTA DE FUGA e seleccione Alterar (tecla Esquerda).

COMO USAR UM MÓDULO EM BRANCO Consulte as ilustrações na secção F do folheto de ilustrações. O módulo em branco é uma tampa protectora no seu S8 ELITE. Em certas alturas, poderá desejar retirar ou instalar o módulo, como por exemplo quando desejar usar um outro módulo.
O Cartão de Dados será fornecido num conveniente envelope de correio com porte pago. Os dados copiados para um Cartão de Dados serão armazenados e encontrar-se-ão disponíveis no S8 ELITE. Demora até 30 segundos a copiar os dados para um Cartão de Dados. 1 INTRODUZA O CARTÃO DE DADOS • Ligue o S8 ELITE e aguarde até que possa observar o ecrã de espera (SUBIDA). • Segure o Cartão de Dados com a seta virada para cima e introduza-o na ranhura do módulo de Cartões de Dados (H-1).
COMO USAR O CARTÃO DE DADOS PARA ACTUALIZAR PARÂMETROS No caso do seu médico lhe ter enviado um Cartão de Dados com novos parâmetros para o dispositivo: • Com o dispositivo no modo de espera (Subida), introduza o Cartão de Dados na ranhura do módulo de Cartões de Dados. A actualização será iniciada automaticamente. • A mensagem “Cartão introduzido – aguarde por favor” será apresentada no mostrador LCD durante a actualização. A actualização pode demorar até 30 segundos.

LIMPEZA E MANUTENÇÃO Deverá levar a cabo regularmente a limpeza e manutenção descritas nesta secção. Consulte o manual da sua máscara para mais informações. LIMPEZA – DIARIAMENTE MÁSCARA Lave a máscara de acordo com as instruções fornecidas com a mesma. TUBAGEM DE AR Desconecte o tubo de ar do S8 ELITE (e humidificador, caso esteja a ser utilizado) e pendure o tubo e a máscara num local seco e limpo até à próxima utilização.
SUBSTITUIÇÃO DO FILTRO DE AR Para substituir o filtro de ar: 1. Remova a tampa do filtro de ar que se encontra na parte de trás do S8 ELITE . Tampa do filtro de ar 2. Remova e deite fora o filtro de ar usado. 3. Introduza um filtro novo, com a face azul virada para fora da unidade. 4. Volte a colocar a tampa do filtro de ar. Inspeccione o filtro de ar todos os meses para verificar se este se encontra bloqueado com sujidade ou tem perfurações.
PERGUNTAS FREQUENTES O QUE SENTIREI QUANDO ESTIVER A RESPIRAR COM O S8 ELITE? Quando utilizar o S8 ELITE pela primeira vez, pode vir a sentir um certo desconforto ao respirar contra o fluxo de ar. Isto é normal e você continuará a respirar normalmente enquanto dorme. Habitue-se gradualmente a esta nova sensação. O QUE DEVO FAZER QUANDO ME QUISER LEVANTAR DA CAMA DURANTE A NOITE? No caso de necessitar de se levantar durante a noite, remova a máscara e interrompa a terapia.
POSSO VIAJAR COM O S8 ELITE? USO INTERNACIONAL O seu gerador de fluxo S8 ELITE vem equipado com um transformador de energia interno que lhe permite utilizá-lo noutros países. A unidade aceita correntes de alimentação de 100 a 240V e 50/60 Hz. Não é necessário fazer um ajuste especial à unidade, mas no entanto poderá necessitar de um adaptador de ficha para o tipo de tomada eléctrica. MUDANÇAS DE ALTITUDE O S8 ELITE ajusta-se automaticamente a mudanças de altitude até 2591 metros.
DETECÇÃO E RESOLUÇÃO DE PROBLEMAS Problema Possível causa Solução Nada é apresentado no mostrador LCD. A unidade não se encontra ligada a uma fonte de energia. Certifique-se de que o cabo eléctrico adequado se encontra ligado ao seu S8 Elite e de que o interruptor de energia (no caso de ser disponível) se encontra ligado. O ar fornecido pelo S8 Elite é insuficiente. O tempo de subida está a ser utilizado. Aguarde pelo aumento da pressão de ar ou ajuste o tempo de subida. O filtro de ar está sujo.

De gebruikershandleiding bevat de informatie die u nodig hebt voor het correcte gebruik van uw S8 ELITE.
WAARSCHUWINGEN Lees voor gebruik van de S8 ELITE de volledige handleiding. Adviezen uit deze handleiding mogen nooit voorrang krijgen op de instructies van de behandelend arts. • Een patiënt mag een apparaat niet aansluiten op de data-communicatiepoort, tenzij hij daartoe instructies heeft ontvangen van de arts of een andere deskundige op het gebied van gezondheidszorg. Alleen ResMed-producten zijn ontwikkeld om te worden aangesloten op de data-communicatiepoort.

HET S8 ELITE-SYSTEEM Het S8 ELITE apparaat maakt deel uit van een systeem dat bestaat uit vijf elementen: • S8 ELITE flow-generator • Masker • Bevochtiger • Gegevensbeheer-producten • Accessoires. S8 ELITE Raadpleeg de afbeeldingen in deel A van het illustratieblad. VOORAANZICHT (A-1) Toont het toetsenpaneel en het LCD-scherm en de luchtuitgang. ACHTERAANZICHT (A-2) Toont waar de module wordt bevestigd en de locatie van het luchtfilter en de elektriciteitsaansluitingen.
! WAARSCHUWING Alleen ResMed-maskersystemen zijn geschikt voor gebruik met de S8 Elite. Raadpleeg “Waarschuwingen” op pagina 272. BEVOCHTIGER Raadpleeg de afbeelding in deel B van het illustratieblad. Het gebruik van een luchtbevochtiger kan nodig zijn wanneer u last heeft van een droge neus, mond of keel. De S8 ELITE is geschikt voor gebruik met de HUMIDAIRE 3i geïntegreerde verwarmde luchtbevochtiger.
HET GEBRUIK VAN DE S8 ELITE Raadpleeg de afbeeldingen in deel D van het illustratieblad. OPSTELLEN VAN DE S8 ELITE 1 Plaats de S8 ELITE op een tafel bij het hoofdeinde van uw bed. ! VOORZICHTIG Plaats het apparaat zo, dat niemand er tegenaan kan stoten of over de elektriciteitskabel kan struikelen. N.B.: U kunt uw S8 Elite ook op de vloer naast of onder uw bed plaatsen.
STARTEN VAN DE BEHANDELING 1 Let erop dat de elektriciteit is ingeschakeld. Er verschijnt korte tijd een welkomstbericht op het scherm, daarna verschijnt het standbyscherm (Aanloop). De achtergrondverlichting van de toetsen en het scherm gaat ook aan. 2 Ga in bed liggen en leg de luchtslang zo, dat deze vrij kan bewegen als u zich in uw slaap omdraait. ! VOORZICHTIG Laat geen lange stukken luchtslang bij het hoofdeinde van het bed liggen.
GEBRUIK VAN DE MASKERPASVORM-FUNCTIE U kunt de maskerpasvorm-functie van de S8 ELITE gebruiken, waardoor uw masker goed past. Deze functie levert voorafgaand aan de behandeling gedurende drie minuten luchtdruk. Tijdens deze periode kunt u uw masker controleren en bijstellen, om lekkage tot een minimum te beperken. N.B.: Let erop dat de maskerinstelling op het scherm MASKER overeenkomt met het masker dat u gebruikt.

HET GEBRUIK VAN HET TOETSENPANEEL Het bedieningspaneel van de S8 ELITE omvat een LCD-scherm en een toetsenpaneel om te kunnen lopen door de menu's en voor het leveren van de behandeling. De achtergrondverlichting van het scherm dooft na twee minuten van inactiviteit. Deze gaat weer aan nadat u een toets indrukt.
Wanneer het S8-apparaat in de standby-modus staat, blijven alle toetsen verlicht. Tijdens de therapie dooft de achtergrondverlichting van de toetsen na twee minuten van inactiviteit en dimt de Start/Stop-toets. WIJZIGEN VAN DE INSTELLINGEN U kunt de instellingen op de S8 ELITE wijzigen met het toetsenpaneel en het scherm. Wanneer de S8 ELITE in de standby-modus staat, kunt u een serie schermen weergeven (een menu) op het LCD-scherm om de instellingen voor een bepaalde functie te bekijken en te wijzigen.

MENU INSTELLINGEN Selecteer de toets Enter (Links) in het menu Instellingen om naar de opties in dit menu te gaan. WIJZIGEN VAN DE EPR-INSTELLING N.B.: EPR is wellicht niet in alle regio's beschikbaar. Uw arts heeft wellicht uw apparaat ingesteld op het leveren van uitademingsdrukverlichting (EPR). Hiermee kan tijdens de behandeling eventueel ongemak tijdens het uitademen worden verlicht. Er zijn vier instellingen: 1(laagste EPR), 2, 3 (hoogste EPR) en UIT (geen EPR).
WIJZIGEN VAN DE LEKALARM-INSTELLING Lekalarm geeft aan wanneer er sprake is van een hoge maskerlekkage. Scroll naar LEKALARM en selecteer Wijzigen (toets Links). Druk op de toetsen Omhoog of Omlaag om de optie te wijzigen naar AAN of UIT. MENU RESULTATEN Selecteer de toets Enter (Links) in het menu Instellingen om naar de opties in dit menu te gaan. N.B.: Uw arts heeft wellicht uw apparaat ingesteld op het weergeven van Smart Data. Neem contact op met uw arts omtrent Smart Data.
Uw arts kan elk van de volgende herinneringsberichten op uw scherm instellen: 288 Bericht Omschrijving Actie KAART PLAATSEN Kan verschijnen als uw apparaat is uitgerust met een Data Card-functie. Plaats uw Data Card (zie hoofdstuk H van het illustratieblad) en volg evt. door uw arts gegeven aanwijzingen. Als dit is gebeurd, verdwijnt het bericht van het scherm. Het bericht verdwijnt ook door te drukken op de toets Links (OK). MASKER VERVANGEN Kan verschijnen als uw masker aan vervanging toe is.
S8-MODULES N.B.: Verwijder geen modules als de elektriciteit van de S8 Elite is aangesloten. Op de achterzijde van uw S8 ELITE is één van twee modules gemonteerd: een lege module of een RESSCAN Data Card-module. HET GEBRUIK VAN EEN LEGE MODULE Raadpleeg de afbeeldingen in deel F van het illustratieblad. De lege module is een beschermkap op uw S8 ELITE. Af en toe moet deze module mogelijkerwijs worden verwijderd of geplaatst, bijvoorbeeld voor het gebruik van een andere module.
1 PLAATS DE DATA CARD • Zet de S8 ELITE aan en wacht tot het standby-scherm (AANLOOP) verschijnt. • Houd de Data Card met de pijl naar voren gericht en steek deze in de opening in de Data Card-module (H-1). • Duw de kaart geleidelijk in de opening, totdat deze niet verder kan (H-2) en er berichten op het LCD-scherm beginnen te verschijnen. 2 KOPIËREN VAN GEGEVENS NAAR DE DATA CARD • Het kopiëren van gegevens begint automatisch wanneer de Data Card in de Data Card-module wordt geplaatst.
• WAARSCHUWING Neem onmiddellijk contact op met uw arts als hij/zij u heeft opgedragen deze Data Card te gebruiken voor het aanpassen van de instellingen op uw apparaat en het bericht "Instellingen gelukt" niet verschijnt. NEDERLANDS ! Bewaar de Data Card wanneer deze niet wordt gebruikt in de bijbehorende retourenveloppe.

REINIGING EN ONDERHOUD U dient de in dit hoofdstuk beschreven onderhouds- en reinigingswerkzaamheden regelmatig uit te voeren. Raadpleeg de gebruiksaanwijzing van uw masker voor uitgebreide instructies. DAGELIJKSE REINIGING MASKER Reinig het masker volgens de bijbehorende instructies. LUCHTSLANG Koppel de luchtslang los van de S8 ELITE (en de luchtbevochtiger, indien gebruikt) en hang de slang en het masker zolang deze niet worden gebruikt op een schone en droge plek.
VERVANGEN VAN HET LUCHTFILTER Vervangen luchtfilter: 1. Verwijder het luchtfilterdeksel aan de achterzijde van de S8 ELITE . Luchtfilterdeksel 2. Verwijder het oude luchtfilter en gooi dit weg. 3. Plaats een nieuw filter, houd daarbij de blauw gekleurde zijde naar buiten gericht. 4. Plaats het luchtfilterdeksel terug. Inspecteer het luchtfilter iedere maand en controleer of dit niet wordt verstopt door vuil of gaten bevat.
VEELGESTELDE VRAGEN HOE VOELT HET ALS IK ADEMHAAL MET DE S8 ELITE? Wanneer u voor de eerste maal uw S8 ELITE gebruikt, vindt u het misschien niet comfortabel om te ademen tegen de luchtstroom. Dit is normaal. U blijft gewoon ademen terwijl u slaapt. Neem de tijd om vertrouwd te raken met dit nieuwe gevoel. WAT MOET IK DOEN ALS IK 'S NACHTS WIL OPSTAAN? Als u 's nachts moet opstaan, verwijdert u uw masker en stopt u de therapie.
KAN IK DE S8 ELITE MEE OP REIS NEMEN? INTERNATIONAAL GEBRUIK Uw S8 ELITE flow-generator heeft een interne elektriciteitsaansluiting, waardoor deze in andere landen kan functioneren. Het apparaat functioneert op een elektriciteitsvoorziening van 100–240V en 50/60Hz. Er is geen speciale instelling nodig, maar mogelijkerwijs hebt u een verloopstekker voor het stopcontact nodig. HOOGTEVERANDERINGEN Uw S8 ELITE past zich automatisch aan veranderingen in hoogte tot 2591 m aan.
OPSPOREN EN OPLOSSEN VAN PROBLEMEN Probleem Mogelijke oorzaak Oplossing Geen scherm. Elektriciteit niet aangesloten. Let erop dat de juiste elektriciteitskabel is aangesloten op uw S8 Elite en dat de schakelaar (indien aanwezig) is ingedrukt. Er wordt onvoldoende lucht geleverd door de S8 Elite. Aanlooptijd of Inwerktijd is in gebruik. Wacht tot de luchtdruk opbouwt of wijzig de aanlooptijd of inwerktijd. Luchtfilter is vuil. Vervang het luchtfilter. Luchtslang geknikt of lek.
Probleem Mogelijke oorzaak Oplossing De ademhaling is niet diep genoeg om SmartStart te activeren. Adem eenmaal diep in en uit door het masker. Er is bovenmatige lekkage. Stel de positie van het masker en de hoofdband bij. Schildjes op de toegangspoorten van het masker kunnen ontbreken. Vervang ze. Luchtslang is niet goed aangesloten. Aan beide zijden stevig aansluiten. Luchtslang geknikt of lek. Rechtleggen of vervangen. 298 S8 Elite stopt niet als u uw masker afneemt.
Mogelijke oorzaak Oplossing Geeft foutmelding weer: Hoge lekkage tijdens afgelopen sessie Gedurende de nacht ervoer u hoge lekkageniveaus. Controleer of uw luchtslang goed is aangesloten en of uw masker niet buitensporig lekt. Gebruik de maskerpas-functie om uw masker goed te laten passen. Neem contact op met uw arts als dit bericht weer verschijnt. Geeft foutmelding weer: HOGE LEKKAGE!!! masker bijstellen U hebt gedurende meer dan 20 seconden hoge lekkageniveaus ervaren.

Let erop dat de Data Card wordt geplaatst met de pijl naar voren en in de richting van het apparaat gericht. De kaart is geen ResScan Data Card. Gebruik een ResScan Data Card zoals aangegeven in deze handleiding.
