Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into a warm one. The
condensation generated could destroy the product. The mains adapter may also generate a fatal electric
shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it and putting it to use. This may take
several hours.
Always comply with the accident prevention regulations for electrical equipment when using the product
in industrial facilities.
Protect the product from direct sunlight. Operate and store the product only in indoor areas protected
from sunlight.
Warning, LED light:
Do not look directly at the LED light!
Do not look into the beam directly or with optical instruments!
Consult a technician if you are not sure how to use or connect the product.
Maintenance, modications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert or at a qualied shop.
b) Important notes
The OCR software license can only be installed and registered once for a computer. Therefore, make
sure that your computer meets the necessary technical preconditions for this. When commissioning make
absolutely sure, that the projected image of the scanner appears on the monitor, before you register the
OCR software license on the Internet.
Malfunctions may occur when connecting to a USB 3.0 port. Therefore only connect the product to a
USB 2.0 port.
Cleaning and care
Always disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning it.
Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these may damage the
casing or cause the product to malfunction.
Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the casing.
To clean the scanner window use only a clean cloth slightly moistened with water. Dry the scanner window
carefully before the next period of operation.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be placed in household waste. Always
dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory regulations.

Intended use
The product is used to digitise books, that are placed directly on the V-shaped scanning support. The storage
of the scanned books takes place on a Windows
®
compatible PC, that is connected with the book scanner
via a USB 2.0 port. A CD with software is included in the scope of supply. Power is supplied via the power
adapter included with the product.
This product is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture (e.g. in bathrooms)
must be avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. Using the product for
purposes other than those described above may damage the product. In addition, improper use can cause
hazards such as a short circuit, re or electric shock. Read through this important information carefully and
keep it in a safe place. Only pass on this product to third parties together with this important information.

a) General information
The product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing material
for children.
Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity, moisture,
ammable gases, vapours and solvents.
Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, stop using it and prevent unauthorized use. Safe
operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
Always handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height may damage the
product.
Always observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected to the
product.
Avoid the following unfavourable ambient conditions at the installationlocation and during transport:
- Dust or ammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows
- Strong magnetic elds such as those found close to machinery or loudspeakers
Make sure that the scanner window is not contaminated with ngerprints or soiled in any other way. Never
use chemical cleaning agents to clean the scanner window. Observe without fail the notes in chapter
“Cleaning and care”.
The mains outlet must be located near to the device and be easily accessible.
Only use the supplied mains adapter as a power supply.
Only connect the power adapter to a normal mains socket connected to the public supply. Before plugging
in the power adapter, check whether the voltage stated on the power adapter complies with the voltage
of your electricity supplier.
Never connect or disconnect power adapters if your hands are wet.
Never unplug the mains adapter from the mains socket by pulling on the cable; always use the grips on
the plug.
When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are not pinched, kinked or damaged by sharp
edges.
Always lay the cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them. This poses a risk of injury.
For safety reasons, disconnect the power adapter from the mains socket during storms.
Do not touch the mains adapter if there are any signs of damage, as this may cause a fatal electric shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the mains adapter is connected (switch off at the
corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse, and then switch off at the corresponding RCD
protective switch, so the socket is fully disconnected). You can then unplug the mains adapter from the
mains socket. Dispose of the faulty mains adapter in an environmentally friendly manner and discontinue
use. Replace it with a mains adapter of the same design.
If the product is not going to be used for a prolonged period of time (e.g. storage), disconnect it from the
power supply by removing the power adapter from the mains socket.
Never pour any liquids over electrical devices or place objects lled with liquid next to the product. If liquid
or an object does enter the interior of the device, power down the respective socket (e.g. switch off the
circuit breaker), and then remove the mains plug from the mains socket. Discontinue use and take the
product to a specialist repair centre.
