Operation
• Therechargeablebatteriesareemptyondelivery.Waitforoneortwosunnydaysin
order for the rechargeable batteries to charge suciently and for the house number
to work properly.
You may also remove the rechargeable batteries from the solar house num-
berandchargethemwithastandardNiMHroundcellchargingdevice.
Whenreinsertingtherechargeablebatteriesintothesolarhousenumber,
observecorrectpolarity(positive/+andnegative/-terminals).
• Pleasenotethat,whencomparedtothesummer,theilluminationperiodcouldbe
shorter during long-lasting bad weather conditions or during wintertime.
Replacing the rechargeable battery
Rechargeablebatterieshavealimitedlifespan.Replacetherechargeable
batteries when the illumination period is only very short despite sucient
sunlight (or at least every 2 years).
• Removethesolarhousenumberfromthewall.
• Opentherechargeablebatterycompartment by slidingtherechargeablebattery
compartmentcoverupwards;thenremovetherechargeablebatterycompartment
cover.
• Replacethethreerechargeablebatteriesbyrechargeablebatteriesofequivalent
type(seechapter“TechnicalData”).Observecorrectpolarity(positive/+andnega-
tive/- terminals) during installation.
You may also use rechargeable batteries of higher capacity.
• Reinstalltherechargeablebatterycompartmentcoverproperlyandthenlockit.
• Reattachthesolarhousenumbertothewallandmakesureitispositionedsecure-
ly.
Maintenance and cleaning
The product is maintenance-free part from occasionally replacing the rechargeable
battery. The LEDs are permanently installed and non-replaceable.
Maintenanceorrepairsmaybecarriedoutbyaprofessionalonly.
Useaclean,softandslightlydampclothtocleantheproductexterior.
Neveruseanyaggressivecleaningagentsorchemicalsolutionsastheymaycause
damage to the housing or the product to malfunction.
Neverdirectthewaterjetofagardenhoseorofahighpressurecleaneratthesolar
house number in order not to damage the product.
Cleanthecoverofthesolarcellsapproximatelyonceayear.Dustanddirt
on the solar cell will reduce the charging current and hence the illumination
period.
Disposal
a) General
Do not dispose of the product with your household waste.
Pleasedisposeofthedeviceattheendofitsservicelifeinaccordancewith
legalregulations;e.g.returnthedevicetoapubliccollectionpoint.
Removetheinstalledrechargeablebatteriesanddisposeofthemseparately
from the product.
b) Disposing of used rechargeable batteries
Astheenduser,youarelegallyboundtoreturnallusedrechargeablebatteries;dispo-
sing of used rechargeable batteries with household waste is prohibited.
Rechargeablebatteriescontaininghazardoussubstancesaremarkedwith
the symbol shown opposite, which indicates that disposal with household
waste is prohibited.
Thedesignations fortheheavymetalsinvolvedare:Cd= Cadmium, Hg=
Mercury,Pb=Lead.
You can dispose of your used rechargeable batteries free of charge at collection
points in your community, at our stores and everywhere batteries are sold!
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the envi-
ronment.
Troubleshooting
The LEDs do not activate.
• Removethe plastic strip from the rechargeablebatterycompartmentduringrst
time use.
•The rechargeable batteriesare empty (nosunlighton the solarcellfor a longer
period of time, e.g. during bad weather conditions or wintertime).
• Therechargeablebatteriesarenotproperlyinstalled.
• Thesolarhousenumberisinstalledataninconvenientlocationandthelightofa
streetlamp,forexample,simulatesdaylight.
The LEDs light up only briefly.
• Therechargeablebatteries are empty(nosunlight on thesolar cell foralonger
period of time, e.g. during bad weather conditions or wintertime).
• Therechargeablebatteriesareexhaustedanddonotprovideanypower.Replace
the rechargeable batteries of the solar house number by new ones.
You can also try to discharge and charge the rechargeable batteries with a standard
NiMHroundcellchargingdeviceseveraltimesinorderto“refresh”therecharge-
ablebatteries.Highqualitychargingdevicesoersuchafunction.
