Q&A No.: QAH8S-225
Category: SCI
Subject: SCI Initialization
Question
In SCI initialization, why is there a minimum 1-bit wait before the TE bit or RE bit is set in the
serial control register (SCR)?
Answer
This 1-bit interval is the minimum time necessary for internal processing to fix the data. If
transmission is performed without this 1-bit wait, indefinite data will be transmitted. A wait of at
least 1-bit duration is therefore essential before performing transmission.
