- Troubleshooting
- The QuizManager control bar shows a yellow indicator.
- The QuizManager control bar shows a black indicator, but a NEO is connected to that location on the Cart or to the USB port on the computer.
- I have a quiz installed on some NEOs, and I have student responses that I have not yet retrieved, but I’ve accidentally erased the quiz document from my computer. Now I can’t retrieve, or even remove, the responses.
- I have a quiz installed on some NEOs, but I have accidentally erased the quiz document from my computer and I don’t remember the Admin Password. Now I am unable to remove the quiz from the NEOs.

5. Select one of the options and press enter:
•Print: Choose this option if you want to print the report directly. Then,
press print. (NEO must be connected to a printer with a USB cable or
be able to send the file to a printer wirelessly.)
• Send directly to computer: Choose this option if you want to send
the report to a file on your computer. Make sure AlphaSmart Manager
is not running on the computer. Then, connect your NEO to the
computer via USB cable (or AlphaHub) as directed by the NEO, open
the file on the computer, and press send on the NEO. Disconnect the
cable when the file has been sent. (If characters get jumbled in the
computer file, you may need to change the transfer speed by pressing
option- -s.)
• Transfer to AlphaWord file: Choose this option if you want to send
the report to an AlphaWord Plus file in one of the eight file spaces on
the NEO. Then, type the number of the file you want to send the report
to. If the NEO warns you that the text that’s already in the file will be
deleted, press y for “yes” if you want to continue. In the SmartApplet
list that appears next, you can select AlphaWord Plus, and the file that
you sent the report to will open.
Teacher Options
The Teacher Options in KeyWords allow you to do the following:
• Delete one or more KeyWords students
• Control whether home row confirmation is required
• Control whether KeyWord reinforces use of the correct shift key
• Set whether one space or two spaces are required between sentences
• View student progress using various reports
The master password is required when you set teacher options.
You can use AlphaSmart Manager to set the master password for your NEOs.
For instructions, see the AlphaSmart Manager 2 User Manual. You can find
the CD on the AlphaSmart Manager CD or in the Start menu (Windows) or
the program folder (Macintosh).

If file passwords are
enabled for
AlphaWord Plus (see
page 3-4), you must enter the
password for the file you’ve
chosen before the KeyWords
report can be saved there.
You can substitute the master
password for the file
password.
You can also change
these settings in
AlphaSmart
Manager. Click the Settings
tab, then click KeyWords on
the left to see the settings you
can change.
