SAFETY LABEL INSTALLATION This is a copy of the safety label that accompanies the E33 SunriseTM Gas Insert. We have printed a copy of the contents here for your review. The safety label is located on a plate inside the base of the unit visible when the bottom louver is opened. NOTE: FPI units are constantly being improved. Check the label on the unit and if there is a difference, the label on the unit is the correct one.

INSTALLATION The FPI Gas Insert must be installed in accordance with these instructions. Carefully read all the instructions in this manual first. Consult the building authority having jurisdiction to determine the need for a permit prior to starting the installation. NOTE: Failure to follow the instructions could cause a malfunction of the heater which could result in death, serious bodily injury, and/or property damage.
INSTALLATION INSTALLATION 11) Due to high temperatures, the appliance should be located out of high traffic areas and away from furniture and draperies. Children and adults should be alerted to the hazards of high surface temperatures, especially the fireplace glass, and should stay away to avoid burns or clothing ignition. Young children should be carefully supervised when they are in the same room as the appliance. Clothing or other flammable material should not be placed on or near the appliance.

INSTALLATION WIRING DIAGRAMS Caution: Ensure that the wires do not touch any hot surfaces and are away from sharp edges. WARNING: Electrical Grounding Instructions This appliance is equipped with a three pronged (grounding) plug for your protection against shock hazard and should be plugged directly into a properly grounded three-prong receptacle. Do not cut or remove the grounding prong from this plug.
INSTALLATION For PROPANE Units and Units Equipped with DC Spark Boxes* INSTALLATION *For installation of the DC Spark Box refer to the LP Conversion instructions in this manual. 1) Choose a convenient location on the wall to install the receiver and the receptacle box (protection from extreme heat is very important). Run wires from the fireplace to that location. Use Thermostat Wire Table. 2) Connect the wires as per the wiring diagrams below.
INSTALLATION GLASS CRYSTAL OR OPTIONAL CERAMIC STONES INSTALLATION NOTE: When installing, use either the supplied Glass Crystals or optional Ceramic Spa Stones - DO NOT combine the two when installing on Models P33S/ E33S/ L676S. Only the supplied approved Cobalt Blue Glass or optional Ceramic Spa Stones are to be used with this fireplace.
INSTALLATION INSTALLATION CONTEMPORARY FACEPLATE & DOOR FRAME INSTALLATION 3) Secure loose wires using wire clips along the back of the left side of the faceplate. Ensure to run the wires away from the firebox as much as possible.
INSTALLATION 5) Secure the bottom of the faceplate to the firebox flange using one screw on each side. 8) Align the left and right side hinge with the screw holes in the bottom louver and secure in place using 3 screws per side. INSTALLATION NOTE: Ensure that the bottom of the faceplate leg is aligned with the screw hole on the inner side of the firebox flange. 9) Install the door frame by hooking the top flange over top of the glass door, push in the bottom of the door frame to secure in place.
INSTALLATION INSTALLATION OPTIONAL HEARTH TRIM INSTALLATION The Hearth Trim is an option that can be used to finish off the installation when the bottom of the fireplace is higher than the hearth or to raise the fireplace. The faceplate is assembled first and then the hearth trim is attached to the faceplate. There are 2 Hearth Trim options; a 2" and a 4".
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FINAL CHECK Before leaving this unit with the customer, the installer must ensure that the appliance is firing correctly. This includes: 1) Clocking the appliance to ensure the correct firing rate (rate noted on label) at 15 minutes. 2) First allow the unit to burn for 15 minutes to stabilize. If required, adjust the primary air to ensure that the flame does not carbon. 3) Check for proper draft. CAUTION FIRST FIRE The first fire in your insert is part of the paint curing process.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AUTOMATIC CONVECTION FAN OPERATION COPY OF LIGHTING INSTRUCTION PLATE The fan operates automatically. Turn the knob on the side of the faceplate to adjust to the desired speed. The fan will turn on as the insert comes up to operating temperature. After the unit has been turned off and the unit has been cooled to below useful heat output range, the fan will shut off automatically.
MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS 1) Always turn the gas valve to the off position before cleaning. For relighting, refer to lighting instructions. Keep the burner and control compartment clean by brushing and vacuuming at least once a year. 2) Clean (never when unit is hot) appliance, door and louvers with a damp cloth. Never use an abrasive cleaner. The optional finishes on louvers and doors may be scratched if abrasives are used to clean them.
MAINTENANCE VALVE TRAY REPLACEMENT 1) Turn the unit off and allow it to cool down to room temperature. 6) Remove the back shield by undoing the 2 screws shown. 2) Disconnect the power source and turn off the gas supply to the insert. Back Shield 3) Open the bottom louver. 4) Remove the door frame by lifting out from the bottom and lift up off the glass door. 7) Remove the burner by undoing the 2 screws shown. Carefully lift the burner up and out ensuring not to spill glass crystals.
MAINTENANCE 9) Remove the base cover by lifting up from the back and maneover out. Base Cover 11) Remove the valve tray by undoing the 17 screws. 12) Slighty lift out valve tray. 10) Disconnect the ON/OFF connector wires from the valve. NOTE: For LP units disconnect the DC Sparker ignitor wire from the valve. MAINTENANCE 13) Disconnect the inlet gas line. 14) Replace valve and reverse steps.
MAINTENANCE FAN REPLACEMENT 1) Turn the unit off and allow it to cool down to room temperature. 2) Disconnect the power source and turn off the gas supply to the insert. 7) Remove the burner by undoing the 2 screws shown. Carefully lift the burner up and out ensuring not to spill glass crystals. 8) Carefully set aside the burner and glass crystals. 3) Open the bottom louver. 4) Remove the door frame by lifting out from the bottom and lift up off the glass door.
MAINTENANCE 10) Remove the fan access plate by undoing the 12 screws shown. 12) Remove the 2 screws that hold the fan in place and slide the fan towards the front of the unit. 13) Unplug the 2 connector wires highlighted below. 11) Remove the 2 screws that hold the pilot assembly in place and lift forward as shown below. 14) Lift up the left side of the fan and disconnect the ground wire shown.
