8. Preparations
The "Vector 65" model boat is shipped ready for use. Only a few steps are required to set it up. The diagrams in this
manual are for reference purposes only. Individual components in the diagrams (e.g. receiver) and the design of the
model may vary.
Readeachsectioncarefullybeforesettingupthemodelboatandusingitforthersttime.Adiagramis
provided in almost every section to illustrate how to assemble the parts.
Please note that the numbers in the text always refer to the components in the diagrams shown on the right.
Only commence the required steps in the different sections once you have understood the procedure
perfectly and know exactly what needs to be taken into account.
a) Checking the receiver and receiver antenna
Modern 2.4 GHz remote control systems only require short antennas both for the transmitter and receiver. The un-
insulated parts of the antenna cable (a few centimetres long) function as the receiver. The remainder of the antenna
cable functions as an extension cable so that you can guide the antenna out of the hull.
Checktheinstallationlocationofthereceiverandreceivingantenna.Thereceivermustbexedinplaceinsidethe
boat. The receiving antenna must be placed as high as possible on top of the boat.
Important!
If the antenna is not positioned correctly (e.g. the antenna is only on the bottom of the hull), the range of the
remote control may be drastically reduced and you may not be able to control the model boat. Check that
the receiving antenna is positioned correctly before each use.
b) Checking the propeller
Before using the model boat, check the propeller and locknuts for any signs of damage and ensure that they are se-
cured properly. If a propeller is damaged, replace it before using the model boat. In case of non-compliance, damaged
propellers may fall off or break when the model boat is moving. This may result in further damage of the model boat,
and you may lose control of the model boat.
For more information on the propeller, see section "Replacing the propeller".
Attention!
The propeller is very sharp and may cause injuries and/or damage to property during handling, use, opera-
tion or when the propeller is replaced.
