2. Symbol-Erklärung Das Symbol mit dem Ausrufezeichen im Dreieck weist auf wichtige Hinweise in dieser Bedienungsanleitung hin, die unbedingt zu beachten sind. Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung Bei diesem Produkt handelt es sich um ein elektrisch angetriebenes Schiffsmodell, das mit Hilfe einer Fernsteueranlage drahtlos per Funk gesteuert wird.

b) Vor der Inbetriebnahme • Stellen Sie sicher, dass innerhalb der Reichweite der Fernsteuerung keine weiteren Schiffsmodelle betrieben werden. Sie verlieren möglicherweise sonst die Kontrolle über die ferngesteuerten Schiffsmodelle! Auch bei 2,4 GHz Fernsteueranlagen müssen Sie immer prüfen, ob der zeitgleiche Betrieb von zwei oder mehr Fernsteuerungen in unmittelbarer Nähe zueinander störungsfrei möglich ist.
• Der unsachgemäße Betrieb kann schwerwiegende Personen- und Sachschäden verursachen! Achten Sie deshalb beim Betrieb auf einen ausreichenden Sicherheitsabstand zu Personen, Tieren und Gegenständen. • Fahren Sie nie direkt auf im Wasser schwimmende Personen oder Tiere zu. • Fahren Sie mit Ihrem Schiffsmodell nur dann, wenn Ihre Reaktionsfähigkeit uneingeschränkt gegeben ist. Müdigkeit, Alkohol- oder Medikamenten-Einfluss können zu Fehlreaktionen führen.
7. Batterie- und Akkuhinweise Obwohl der Umgang mit Batterien und Akkus im täglichen Leben heute eine Selbstverständlichkeit ist, bestehen zahlreiche Gefahren und Probleme. Speziell bei LiPo-Akkus mit ihrem hohen Energieinhalt (im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen NiMH-Akkus) sind diverse Vorschriften unbedingt einzuhalten, da andernfalls Explosions- und Brandgefahr besteht. Beachten Sie deshalb unbedingt die nachfolgend genannten Informationen und Sicherheitshinweise zum Umgang mit Batterien und Akkus.
• Batterien/Akkus dürfen nicht feucht oder nass werden. Gleiches gilt für das Ladegerät. Das Ladegerät darf nur in einem trockenen, geschlossenen Innenraum betrieben werden. Feuchtigkeit/Nässe auf dem Ladegerät kann zu einem lebensgefährlichen elektrischen Schlag führen! Außerdem besteht Brand- und Explosionsgefahr durch den Akku! Gerade Akkus mit Lithium-Technologie (z.B.
• Die Außenhülle von vielen Lithium-Akkus besteht meist nur aus einer dicken Folie und ist deshalb sehr empfindlich. Zerlegen oder beschädigen Sie den Akku niemals, lassen Sie den Akku niemals fallen, stechen Sie keine Gegenstände in den Akku! Vermeiden Sie jegliche mechanische Belastung des Akkus, ziehen Sie auch niemals an den Anschlusskabeln des Akkus! Es besteht Brand- und Explosionsgefahr! Achten Sie ebenfalls hierauf, wenn der Akku im Modell befestigt wird bzw. wenn er aus dem Modell entnommen wird.
8. Vorbereitungen Das Schiffsmodell „Vector 65“ wird betriebsfertig ausgeliefert. Zur Inbetriebnahme sind nur noch wenige Handgriffe zu erledigen. Die Abbildungen in dieser Bedienungsanleitung dienen der Dokumentation. Einzelne Komponenten aus den Abbildungen (z.B. Empfänger) als auch das Design können vom Auslieferzustand abweichen. Bevor Sie das Schiffsmodell fertigstellen bzw. in Betrieb nehmen, lesen Sie bitte zuerst jeden einzelnen Abschnitt in Ruhe durch.
c) Überprüfung der Ruderanlage Bild 1 Von außen nach innen sehend erkennen Sie die Turnfins (A), die Trimmklappen (B) aus Metall, mittig die Schiffsschraube (C), die Ruderanlage (D) mit dem Gestängeanschluss für das Lenkgestänge sowie (verdeckt) den Anschluss der Wasserkühlung. Prüfen Sie die Funktion der Ruderanlenkung. Beachten Sie hierzu auch die Hinweise im nachfolgenden Kapitel 9. Prüfen Sie vor jeder Ausfahrt die Ruderanlage sowie deren Anlenkung auf festen Sitz und auf Beschädigungen.
e) Montage und Einstellung der Turnfins Am Heck des Schiffsmodells sind links und rechts sogenannte „Turnfins“ (Bild 1, Pos. A) montiert. Diese können in mehreren Stufen eingestellt werden. Die „Turnfins“ werden in der Art montiert, dass die scharfen Kanten der Turnfins nach vorne in Fahrtrichtung zeigen. Montierte Turnfins verbessern das Fahrverhalten des Schiffsmodells in Kurven. Bei der Montage bzw.
h) Batterien in den Sender einlegen Entfernen Sie zuerst die Sicherungsschraube auf der Unterseite des Batteriefachs, schieben Sie den Batteriefachdeckel dann nach außen und heben ihn ab. Legen Sie sechs Batterien vom Typ AA/Mignon polungsrichtig in das Batteriefach ein. Beachten Sie hierzu die Symbole (+/-) im Batteriefach und auf Ihren Batterien. Anschließend verschließen Sie das Batteriefach wieder; sichern Sie den Batteriefachdeckel mit der zu Beginn entfernten Schraube.
9. Bedienelemente des Senders Bild 5 Mit dem Steuerrad (A) wird die Fahrtrichtung gesteuert. Drehen Sie das Steuerrad nach links, wird das Boot nach links fahren. Drehen Sie nach rechts, so wird das Schiffsmodell nach rechts fahren. Mit dem Hebel (B) steuern Sie die Fahrtrichtung (Vorwärts/Rückwärts) als auch die Fahrgeschwindigkeit. Ziehen Sie den Hebel zum Griff, so wird das Schiffsmodell vorwärts fahren.
Wenn Sie den Sender eingeschaltet haben, blinkt auch die rechte grüne LED „Frequency“ (F) und zeigt hiermit an, dass sich der Sender im „Binding-Modus“ befindet. Während dem Binding-Modus versucht der Sender, den Empfänger im startbereiten Schiffsmodell (bei angeschlossenem Fahrakku) an den Sender „zu binden“. Nach einigen Sekunden (wenn der Binding-Vorgang erfolgreich war), leuchtet die grüne LED „Frequency“ (F) dann dauerhaft. Zwischen den beiden LEDs befindet sich ein Einstellregler (G).
10. Inbetriebnahme des Schiffsmodells a) Einlegen des Fahrakkus Zum Einlegen des Fahrakkus heben Sie zuerst den oberen Rumpfrücken ab. Hierzu müssen Sie die hintere Verriegelung um 90° drehen. Anschließend ist der innere Rumpfrücken abzuheben. Hier müssen Sie die vier Verriegelungen ebenfalls um 90° verdrehen. Der Fahrakku wird mit den Klettbändern in der Art im Akkuschacht befestigt werden, dass dieser auch im rauen Fahrbetrieb sicher in seiner Position gehalten wird.
c) Überprüfung der Steuerfunktionen Nachdem Sie den Sender und das Schiffsmodell miteinander gebunden haben, ist Ihr Schiffsmodell betriebsbereit. Es sollte in diesem Moment der Motor nicht anlaufen oder brummen. Andernfalls stecken Sie den Fahrakku vom Schiffsmodell ab und schalten danach den Sender aus. Überprüfen Sie am Sender die Neutralstellung am Hebel für die Fahrtrichtung und binden Sie erneut das Schiffsmodell mit dem Sender.
Prüfen Sie die Funktion „Vorwärtsfahrt“. Mit dem Gashebel (Bild 5, Pos. B) des Senders können Sie stufenlos die Fahrgeschwindigkeit des Schiffsmodells regeln. Je weiter Sie den Gashebel zum Griff ziehen, um so schneller muss sich die Schiffsschraube drehen, um so schneller wird die Vorwärtsfahrt. Die Schiffsschraube dreht sich hierbei (von hinten gesehen) gegen den Uhrzeigersinn. Prüfen Sie die Funktion „Rückwärtsfahrt“. Mit dem Gashebel (Bild 5, Pos.
e) Reichweitentest Vor der ersten Ausfahrt sind der Fahrakku und eventuell eingesetzte Senderakkus entsprechend den Herstellerangaben zu laden. Anschließend ist ein Reichweitentest der Fernsteueranlage durchzuführen. Nehmen Sie dazu den Sender und anschließend den Empfänger in Betrieb. Überprüfen Sie mit einem Helfer die Reichweite Ihrer Fernsteuerung, indem der Helfer Ihr betriebsfertiges Schiffsmodell in der Hand hält und Sie sich vom Schiffsmodell entfernen.
Der Fahrtregler im Schiffsmodell hat aus sicherheitstechnischen Gründen eine Unterspannungserkennung für den Fahrakku integriert. Hierbei überprüft der Fahrtregler permanent die Akkuspannung. Ist ein bestimmter, nicht veränderbarer Spannungswert erreicht, so regelt der Fahtregler die Leistung des Motors auf ca. 25% Leistung herab. Nach der Abregelung durch den Fahrtregler haben Sie nur noch für ca. 30 Sekunden Restenergie (ca. 100 - 150 Meter Fahrstrecke) im Akku, um aus eigener Kraft ans Ufer zu fahren.
Tipps aus der Praxis: Wenn sich der Wassereinbruch kontinuierlich erhöht, ist meist das Fett aus der Antriebswelle ausgeschwemmt. In diesem Fall muss die Welle gefettet bzw. auch ausgebaut und neu geschmiert werden. Beachten Sie hierzu die Hinweise im Kapitel „Wartung und Pflege“. Hat der Fahrtregler den Motor unerwartet abgeschaltet, so ist möglicherweise der Fahrtregler überhitzt.
12. Wartung und Pflege Überprüfen Sie in regelmäßigen Abständen den Antrieb und die Steuerfunktionen der Elektronik an Ihrem Schiffsmodell. Alle beweglichen Teile müssen sich leichtgängig bewegen lassen, dürfen aber kein Spiel in der Lagerung aufweisen. Untersuchen Sie auch regelmäßig die Schläuche der Wasserkühlung auf Risse und den festen Sitz. Äußerlich darf das Schiffsmodell nur mit einem weichen, angefeuchteten Tuch gereinigt werden.
13. Entsorgung a) Produkt Elektronische Geräte sind Wertstoffe und gehören nicht in den Hausmüll. Entsorgen Sie das Produkt am Ende seiner Lebensdauer gemäß den geltenden gesetzlichen Bestimmungen. Entnehmen Sie evtl. eingelegte Batterien/Akkus und entsorgen Sie diese getrennt vom Produkt. b) Batterien/Akkus Sie als Endverbraucher sind gesetzlich (Batterieverordnung) zur Rückgabe aller gebrauchten Batterien/Akkus verpflichtet; eine Entsorgung über den Hausmüll ist untersagt.

2. Explanation of symbols The icon with an exclamation mark in a triangle is used to highlight important information in these operating instructions. Always read this information carefully. The arrow symbol indicates that special advice and notes on operation are provided. 3. Intended use This product is an electrically powered model boat that is controlled wirelessly via a remote control. It is designed for outdoor use, but it must only be used in freshwater.

6. Safety instructions Damage caused due to failure to observe these instructions will void the warranty. We shall not be liable for any consequential damages. We shall not be liable for damage to property or personal injury caused by incorrect handling or failure to observe the safety information! Such cases will void the warranty/guarantee. Normal wear and tear and accidental damage (e.g. broken boat propellers or drive/remote control parts with water damage) are not covered by the warranty.
• Charge the boat battery (and remote control batteries, if you are using rechargeable batteries) according to the manufacturer's instructions. • Before using the transmitter, use a battery tester to check that the batteries have sufficient power remaining. If the batteries are empty, replace all of the batteries together. Never replace individual batteries. • Before each use, check the trim settings for the different control directions on the transmitter, and adjust them if necessary.
• If the model boat stops working and starts to float across the water, do not endanger yourself or others when attempting to retrieve it from the water. Do not take any risks when attempting to retrieve the model boat from the water. Watch out for currents and other boat traffic in the body of water. If necessary, use an aid to retrieve the model boat from the water (e.g. rowing boat). Never attempt to retrieve the model boat by yourself.
7. Battery safety information Although the use of batteries is part of our everyday lives nowadays, batteries still present numerous safety hazards. Compared with conventional NiMH rechargeable batteries, LiPo rechargeable batteries have a high energy content. For this reason, it is essential to comply with safety regulations to prevent the risk of a fire or explosion. Always observe the following information and safety warnings when handling (rechargeable) batteries.
• Disconnect the boat battery from the model completely before connecting it to the charger. Never leave the battery connected to a speed controller when it is charging. This may damage the charger, speed controller or the battery! Always remove the battery from the model boat before recharging it. • Place the charger and rechargeable battery on a non-flammable, heat-resistant surface (e.g. stone tiles). Keep the charger and battery away from flammable objects.
• If there are any signs of damage or the outer casing starts to swell or expand, discontinue use immediately. Do not attempt to charge the battery, as this may cause a fire or explosion. Exercise caution when handling the damaged battery and use suitable protective gloves. Dispose of the battery in an environmentally friendly manner. Never store again such batteries in an apartment or in a house/garage. Damaged or swollen lithium batteries may suddenly catch fire.
8. Preparations The "Vector 65" model boat is shipped ready for use. Only a few steps are required to set it up. The diagrams in this manual are for reference purposes only. Individual components in the diagrams (e.g. receiver) and the design of the model may vary. Read each section carefully before setting up the model boat and using it for the first time. A diagram is provided in almost every section to illustrate how to assemble the parts.
c) Testing the rudder system Figure 1 Figure 1 illustrates the position of the turn fins (A), the metal trim tabs (B), the propeller (C), the rudder system (D) with the pushrod connector for the steering linkage, and the connection for the water cooling system (hidden). Check that the rudder system is working correctly. Refer to the instructions in section 9. Before each use, inspect the rudder system and linkage for signs of damage and ensure that they are securely in place.
e) Mounting and configuring the turn fins Turn fins are mounted to the rear of the model boat on the left and right-hand sides (fig. 1, position A). The turn fins can be adjusted to several different positions. The turn fins are to be mounted in a way that their sharp edges should point forwards in the direction of travel. The mounted turn fins enhance the model boat’s ability to turn. After mounting/adjusting the turn fins, secure the screws with the lock nuts to prevent them from becoming loose.
h) Inserting batteries into the transmitter Remove the securing screw on the bottom of the battery compartment and slide the battery compartment cover off the remote control. Insert six AA batteries into the battery compartment. Ensure that you observe the polarity markings (+/-) on the battery compartment and batteries. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it in place with the screw that you previously removed.
9. Using the transmitter Figure 5 Use the steering wheel (A) to control the direction of travel. Turn the wheel left to move the model boat to the left, or right to move the boat to the right. Use the lever (B) to control the direction of travel (forwards/backwards) and the speed. Pull the lever towards the handle to move the model boat forwards. The more you pull the lever towards the handle, the faster the motor spins and the more speed is increased.
When the transmitter is switched on, the green frequency LED (F) on the right also flashes to indicate that the transmitter is in pairing mode. In pairing mode, the transmitter attempts to connect to the receiver in the ready-to-start model boat (the boat battery must be connected). After a few seconds (if pairing was successful), the green frequency LED (F) will stay constant. A trimmer (G) is located between the two LEDs. Use the trimmer to set the maximum possible rudder deflection (dual rate function).
10. Using the model boat a) Inserting the battery In order to insert the battery, first remove the upper hull shell by turning the rear latch by 90°. Then remove the inner hull shell by turning the four latches also by 90°. The battery is strapped inside the battery compartment with the Velcro straps to ensure that it stays in place even when the boat is moving in harsh conditions. See also fig. 7 in the next section. Ensure that the battery is securely in place.
c) Testing the control functions The model boat is ready for use once you have paired the transmitter with the model boat. The motor should not start or hum at this point. Otherwise, disconnect the battery from the model boat and switch off the transmitter. Check that the lever on the transmitter is in the neutral position, and then repair the model boat to the transmitter.
Check the forward throttle function. Move the throttle lever (fig. 5, position 5) on the transmitter to continuously adjust the speed of the model boat. The more you pull the trigger towards the handle, the faster the propeller will spin and the faster the boat will move forward. The boat's propeller rotates in an anticlockwise direction (when viewed from behind). Check the reverse throttle function. Move the throttle lever (fig.
e) Range test Before using the model boat for the first time, charge the battery (and any rechargeable batteries for the transmitter) in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Then perform a range test to make sure the remote control and receiver are within range. Switch on the transmitter, and then turn on the receiver. Ask someone to help you test the range of the remote control by holding the ready-touse model boat while you walk away from the model boat holding the remote control.
For safety reasons, the speed controller features undervoltage protection of the battery, meaning that the speed controller constantly checks the voltage of the battery. If the battery voltage drops below a fixed threshold, the speed controller reduces the power of the motor by approx. 25%. If this occurs, the battery only has approximately 30 seconds of residual power (the equivalent of approx. 100 - 150 m) to bring the model boat back to shore on its own.
Practical tips: If the amount of water that leaks into the boat starts to increase, this usually indicates that there is no lubricant left in the shaft. If this occurs, the shaft may need to be lubricated; dismount it before lubricating if required. See "Maintenance and Cleaning" for instructions on how to do this. If the speed controller turns off the motor unexpectedly, the speed controller may have overheated. Allow the speed controller to cool down.
12. Maintenance and cleaning Regularly check the components and control functions of the electronic system of the model boat. All moving parts should move freely, but there must be not any slackness in the bearing. Regularly inspect the tubes in the water cooling system for signs of cracks, and check that they are securely in place. Clean the outside of the model boat only with a soft, damp cloth. Never use aggressive cleaning chemicals or detergents, as these may damage the surfaces of the model boat.
13. Disposal a) Product Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be placed in household waste. Always dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory regulations. Remove any inserted batteries and dispose of them separately from the product. b) Batteries As the end user, you are required by law to return all used batteries (Battery Directive). They must not be disposed of in household waste.
