14.4 Connecting the drive battery to the speed controller
Now connect the drive battery to the speed controller. The T plug is protected against polarity reversal.
When using a different drive battery, pay attention to the colours of the cables (red cable = plus/+, black cable =
minus/-).
Connecting the drive battery may cause a small electrical discharge (small spark or cracking sound) in the
connector. This is due to the prompt charging of the capacitor in the speed controller when the battery is
connected and is, therefore, not a defect or error. This causes no harm to the rechargeable battery or the
speed controller.
Do not use force when plugging the rechargeable battery into the speed controller. Make sure that the cable can-
not get into the vehicle's drive or into the steering mechanism. If necessary, use cable ties to fasten the cables.
14.5 Switching the speed controller on/off
Switch on the speed controller by briey pressing the on/
off button (see arrow in the gure on the right). Leave the
throttle lever on the transmitter in the neutral position and
do not move it.
The motor emits two short beeps and the green LED on
the speed controller must be permanently lit. Furthermore,
the green LED “TX” on the transmitter stops ashing and
is now permanently lit.
For safety reasons, if the throttle lever is not in
the neutral position when the speed controller is
switched on, the LED on the speed controller will
ash rapidly in green and the drive will not switch
on. Release the throttle lever on the transmitter.
Check that the drive and steering functions are working correctly.
To switch off the speed controller, press and hold the on/off button for about 1 second. The green LED on the
speed controller goes off.
14.6 Attaching and securing the body
Place the body on the brackets and x them with the locking clips removed at the beginning.
14.7 Controlling the vehicle
Place the ready-to-ride vehicle on the ground. Do not reach into the motor or hold the vehicle by the wheels.
Operate the throttle lever for the drive function on the transmitter very carefully and do not drive too fast until you
get used to the responses of the vehicle. Do not move the transmitter controls quickly or jerkily.
If the vehicle shows a tendency to move to one side, adjust the steering trim on the transmitter accordingly.
When switching from forward to reverse throttle, the throttle lever must be placed in the neutral position for approx-
imately 1 second (neutral position = release the lever and leave it in place). Pushing the throttle lever directly from
forward to reverse at one stroke activates the brake function of the drive (the vehicle does not travel in reverse).
Discontinue use immediately if the vehicle does not respond as expected or stops responding to the transmitter
commands. If this occurs, the drive battery or batteries/rechargeable batteries in the transmitter may be empty, or
the vehicle may be too far from the transmitter.
