6 Installing the lighting set
Every model has its peculiar construction and design; we can thus only provide general
information for the lighting set installation.
Use appropriate tools (such as cable ties and adhesive pads) to attach the connection cables
and LEDs to the chassis or body. For the LEDs, you need to drill appropriate holes at the
corresponding locations.
Place the LEDs and connection cables so that they do not interfere with moving/rotating drive
parts and wheels. The chassis’ moving parts must not rub against the cables (for example,
when the wheels deect/bounce back or during steering).
It is good practice to attach the connection module to the inside of the top, using, for example,
a double-sided adhesive pad, and to route all the LED cables there.
The LEDs of the roof-mounted headlight can be arranged individually to your personal pref-
erence. The manufacturer recommends the following order: 2x “blue” LEDs, 1x “white” LED,
2x “red” LEDs.
6.1 Getting started
When all available LEDs from the delivered items are connected, the receiver’s
current load is approx. 500 mA. If the power supply of the LED system comes from a
BEC of the speed controller, the load capacity of the BEC should be at least 3 A con-
tinuous current. Otherwise, voltage drops resulting from the additional power requi-
rement of the steering servo during driving may cause the receiver to malfunction.
An output voltage of the BEC of the speed controller or the receiver power supply
(receiver battery) must never exceed 6 V/DC. Otherwise, this may permanently
damage the electronics of the LED system or LEDs. This will void the warranty/
guarantee.
Please check the package contents for completeness before installation.
Attach the lights correctly to their respective locations.
Connect the lighting wires correctly to the light control according to the instructions.
Arrange the cables neatly.
Connect the light control to the RC receiver; then connect the receiver’s direction channel
(steering servo) and the servo connector to CH1.
Connect the receiver’s throttle channel (speed control/ESC) and the ESC connector to
CH2.
Place the LEDs and connection cables so that they do not interfere with moving/rotating
drive parts and wheels. The chassis’ moving parts must not rub against the cables (e.g.,
when the wheels deect/bounce back or during steering).
