11. Appendix – About optical flow positioning
11.1 Introduction
Placedonthebottomoftheaircraft,theopticalowpositioningsystemsensesthemovementsoftheaircraftwith
theassistanceofthecamera,andcalculatesthecurrentaltitude,helpingtopreciselylocatetheaircraft’sposition.
Whentheaircraftisreadytotakeoff,theopticalowpositioningfunctioncannotbeactivatedduetothelowaltitude
withtheaircraft’sfrontindicatorlightblinkingslowly.Aftertheaircrafthastakenoffandtheconditionsaresatised,the
opticalowpositioningfunctionwillautomaticallyturnonandlocatetheaircraft’spositionastoenablehoveringwith
the aircraft’s indicator light turning solid red.
Attention:Inmid-ight,theopticalowpositioningfunctioncannotbeactivatediftheaircraft’sfrontindicatorlightturns
slowblinkingred.Pleasepayproperattentionforasafeight.
Theopticalowpositioningsystemissignicantlyaffectedbytheintensityofthelightandthesurfacetextureofthe
physicalobject.Iftheopticalowpositioningsystemfailstowork,itsfunctionofhorizontalcenteredabsoluteposition-
ingwillbeineffective.Inthissituation,pleasemanuallycontroltheaircraftandpayproperattentionwhistyingthe
aircraft in the following scenarios.
11.2 Usage Scenarios
• Theopticalowpositioning systemisapplicableforaltitudebetween 0.5and 4metersandsuitableforeither
indoor or outdoor windless environment.
• Theaircraft’sindicatorlightturnsslowblinkingredwhenthesystemfailstolocatepositionandturnssolidredwhen
thesystemfunctionsproperly.
• Donotytheaircraftiftheappremindsyouthatthesystemisnotabletofunctionproperlyinthecurrentenviron-
ment(suchasbadly-litenvironment).
• Do not cover up the camera. Keep the camera clean and in good condition at all times.
• Theopticalowgivesinformationaboutobjectmovementwithintheenvironmentbasedonmovingobjectdetec-
tiononthegroundsurface.Ensurethesurroundingenvironmentisbrightlylitandrichintexture.
• Theopticalowpositioningsystemmayfailtoworkinsuchconditionsaswaterbodies,badly-litenvironmentor
poorly-texturedsurfaces.
