18. Fine Tuning of the Model Helicopter
a) Setting the Swash Plate Linkage Rods
If the nod or roll trim must be adjusted a lot for the helicopter to hover stably, you can also mechanically adjust the
swash plate linkage. For this, it is sensible to remove the canopy.
Generallyobservethatthehelicopteralwaysiesinthedirectionintowhichtheswashplateistippedortilted.Ifthe
helicoptertriestoytotheleft,thelinkagemustbeadjusteduntiltheswashplateistippedfarthertotheright.Ifthe
helicoptertriestoyforward,thelinkagemustbeadjusteduntiltheswashplateistippedfarthertotherear.
Attention!
Alwaysdisconnecttheightbatteryfromthemodelbeforecarryingoutanymaintenanceoradjustment
works at the mechanics.
If the swash plate (1) is slightly askew so that the heli-
copterkeepsyinginonedirection,disconnecttheball
sockets (2) of the linkage rods (3) from the swash plate
arms (4) and twist them to set the required rod length.
Unhooking and hooking in the ball sockets is easiest
when using small tweezers or thin long nose pliers.
Work with the required care to avoid damage to the
swash plate linkage or breaking off parts.
Set the linkage rods so that the model helicopter hovers
stably without any large adjustments of the nod and roll
trim out of the centre position being required.
