Isolation Switch
There’s a new Battery Isolation Switch on the market for trucks and other
heavy vehicles. Fitted as OE at Kenworth, the BMIS is designed and tested to
meet stringent industry standards. But the real news is it’s from REDARC so
you know it’s a superior, more reliable, high quality Australian-made product.
Suitable for 12V and 24V vehicles, the BMIS is designed to safely
isolate vehicle batteries and ensure reliable performance when the vehicle
is operating.
The REDARC BMIS meets and exceeds the requirements of large diesel engines in
12V and 24V systems and features an ISO 26262 rated dual redundancy system
to avoid false triggering. When coupled with the ROS1224 the system features
dual redundancy all the way from the sensors in the ROS to the BMIS.

Roll Over Sensor
The REDARC Roll Over Sensor (ROS) is suitable for both 12 V and 24V
systems, it enables trucks to meet the legal requirements of roll-over
sensing (AS2809:2008) by signalling the isolation switch to disconnect
power to the truck system in the event of a rollove. When an imminent
roll is detected, the ROS will trigger the Battery Master Isolation
Switch to turn off power to the truck’ s electrical system reducing the
risk of fi re and damage to electrical systems.
It uses dual accelerometers designed for automotive safety applications,
giving high accuracy, reliability and has the ability to indicate faults via
an optional dash-mounted lamp which can be easily accessed by the
vehicle’s driver.
The ROS will work ‘hand in glove’ with the REDARC Battery Master
Isolation Switch (BMIS) launched last year. The multi pin plug makes
installation easy and reliable.
The ROS has been tested in Australia’s harsh conditions for reliability,
environmental factors and lifetime testing.
It is resilient to truck
electrical environments and is immune to vibration, bumps, shock, and
electrical transients. Rated IP66, IP67 and IP69K it is also protected
against dust and water, including high-pressure water/steam cleaning.
