BEFORE YOU START READ FIRST RED® is providing the following installation instructions to our customers for installing a DSMC Canon Mount or changing your DSMC camera from the DSMC Ti PL Mount. The DSMC Canon Mount Installation Instructions are shown on a RED EPIC-M camera body. The procedure is the same on RED EPIC-X and Scarlet-X camera bodies. Please understand that any damage that occurs to your camera or mount while installing your DSMC Canon Mount IS NOT covered under RED warranty.
INSTALLING DSMC CANON MOUNT NOTE: If your RED DSMC Brain does not already have a lens mount installed, go to INSTALLING DSMC CANON MOUNT. CAUTION: THE DSMC CANON MOUNT IS NOT HOT SWAPPABLE. BEFORE INSTALLING THE DSMC CANON MOUNT, THE CAMERA MUST BE POWERED DOWN. CAUTION: DO NOT ALLOW ANY DEBRIS TO ENTER THE CAMERA OPENING DURING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF MOUNTS. TAKE GREAT CARE NOT TO DROP ANY OF THE SCREWS INTO THE OPENING AS DAMAGE TO THE OLPF MAY OCCUR THAT MAY NOT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY.
4. Remove the DSMC Ti PL mount from the camera brain. 5. Removal of the DSMC Ti PL mount is complete. INSTALLING DSMC CANON MOUNT 1. Orient the DSMC Canon Mount with the i-Pins in the camera body lined up with the i-Pins on the DSMC Canon Mount. 2. Place the DSMC Canon Mount on the camera brain. 3. Place a NEW M4x0.7 Button Screw in each of the four corners of the mount. 4. Using the included T-20 Torx, seat them very lightly finger-tight. 5. After all four screws are seated; progressively tighten them in an "X" pattern as shown. 6. Finish up by tightening all four screws firmly hand-tight. IMPORTANT: Tighten the screws snug but do not over tighten. 1 4 3 2 7. Attach accessories to camera. 8. Power up camera. 9. For RED EPIC-M / X cameras with firmware v1.6.
REMOVING / INSTALLING BODY CAP The DSMC Canon Mount includes a new body cap. Alignment Marks Lock Pin Release Button Lock Ring REMOVAL 1. Rotate the lock ring in the extreme counter-clockwise (unlocked) direction until the Red line on the lock ring is in the 12 o’clock position. 2. Press the release button to disengage the lock pin from the body cap. 3. While pressing the release button, rotate the body cap counter-clockwise until the Red dot on the body cap lines up with the Red line on the lock ring.
INSTALLATION 1. Rotate the lock ring in the extreme counter-clockwise (unlocked) direction until the Red line on the lock ring lines up with the Red dot on the mount face. 2. Place the body cap on the mount ensuring the Red dot on the body cap lines up with the Red dot on the mount. 3. Rotate the body cap clockwise until it stops and the lock pin secures the body cap in place. 4. Rotate the lock ring clockwise to secure the body cap. 8 © 2011 RED.COM INC.
ATTACHING LENSES The DSMC Canon Mount allows you to install Canon lenses. The Lens interface allows the camera and Canon EF or EF-S lenses to communicate, providing live aperture, focus and zoom data.
