Note: If you are using a PC with a Bluetooth USB device, ensure
that the HotSync Manager on your PC is configured to use same
serial port as your Bluetooth USB device. To check this, right-
click the HotSync Manager on your PC, select Setup and then the
Local tab.
Configuring a HotSync operation via a
Bluetooth-enabled LAN
You can perform a HotSync operation from your Palm Vx
handheld (with Red-M Blade attached) via an Access Point on a
Bluetooth-enabled local area network (LAN). The PC that your
Palm Vx will perform the operation with is specified as part of the
configuration process.
Before you begin
Before you begin, you will need:
a Palm Vx handheld with a Red-M Blade attached (see
page 12) and Red-M software installed (see page 11).
a computer with Palm Vx Desktop software installed and the
name and IP address of this computer, which should be
configured to allow network HotSync operations.
configured Bluetooth infrastructure (for example, a Red-M
3000AS access server running software version 1.3 or later
with Access Points connected).
to have completed the procedure to connect to LAN Access
infrastructure on page 21.
To configure a HotSync operation via a Bluetooth-enabled
LAN
1. Go to System, HotSync. Tap Modem on the
HotSync screen to select the Modem tab.
2. Tap the Menu icon , select Modem Sync
Prefs, then choose Network and tap OK.
