Configuring Bluetooth HotSync operations
You can perform a Bluetooth HotSync operation with your
computer using your Red-M Blade in three different ways:
from your Red-M Blade directly to a Bluetooth-enabled laptop
or PC.
from your Red-M Blade via an Access Point on a Bluetooth-
enabled LAN to a designated computer.
from your Red-M Blade via a mobile phone connection to a
remote access server on your LAN.
Note: to perform a serial HotSync operation using the Palm
cradle, you must first detach the Red-M Blade from your Palm
Vx.
Configuring a HotSync operation with a
computer
Before you begin
Before you begin, you will need:
a Palm Vx handheld with a Red-M Blade attached (see
page 8) and Red-M software installed (see page 6).
a computer with Palm Vx Desktop software and a Bluetooth
PCMCIA card or Bluetooth USB device installed.
the Bluetooth address of the Bluetooth PCMCIA card or
Bluetooth USB device. You can find this address by using the
Bluetooth client software on your computer.
To configure a HotSync operation with a computer
1. On your Palm Vx handheld, perform a device
discovery:
i. Go to System, Prefs and select Bluetooth
from the pick list.
ii. Tap 2 ( ) to go to Screen 2 (shown),
ensure that the pick list selection is set to
All or Unfiled, and then tap Discover.
iii. The Red-M Blade will then find all
Bluetooth-enabled devices in range.
iv. Tap Stop to halt the discovery process.
