Configuring a Bluetooth-enabled LAN
connection
Before you begin
Before you begin, you will need:
a Palm Vx handheld with a Red-M Blade attached (see
page 12) and Red-M software installed (see page 11).
configured Bluetooth infrastructure (for example, a Red-M
3000AS access server running software version 1.3 or later
with Access Points connected).
the name or Bluetooth address of the Access Point or Access
Server to which you want to connect and the Bluetooth
passkey if one is used. For this information, ask your system
administrator.
To configure your Palm Vx to connect to LAN
Access infrastructure
1. On your Palm Vx handheld, perform a device
discovery:
i. Go to System, Prefs and select Bluetooth
from the pick list.
ii. Tap 2 ( ) to go to Screen 2 (shown),
ensure that the pick list selection is set to
All or Unfiled, and then tap Discover.
iii. The Red-M Blade will then find all
Bluetooth-enabled devices in range.
iv. Tap Stop to halt the discovery process.
2. In the list of discovered devices, look for the
name or Bluetooth address of each of the
Access Points to which you want to connect.
Access Points and Access Servers will be
categorized as LANs in this list. (Access
Servers are treated as Access Points in this
procedure.)
