WhenchangingthePrimaryAddresstoyourownprivateSixViewManagerserver,youmaywanttoconsidersetting
theSecondaryAddresstotheRedLionSixViewManagertestserver(server2.sixviewmanager.com)fortrialandinitial
productionrollouts.ThiswillenableRedLionsupportstafftomonitortheprogressandbetterassistin
diagnosing
potentialproblems.
SelectConnectionMode:SelectthedesiredConnectionModefromthedrop‐downmenu.
•PrimaryOnly:TheSixViewManagerclientonlyconnectstothePrimaryServer.
•SecondaryOnly:TheSixViewManagerclientonlyconnectstothe SecondaryServer.
•Both:TheSixViewManagerclientconnectstothePrimaryandSecondaryServers.
•SecondarywhenPrimaryunavailable:TheSixViewManagerclientpreferentiallyconnectstothePrimary,usingtheSec‐
ondaryasabackup.
Therecommendedsettingis“SecondarywhenPrimaryunavailable”or“Both”arethepreferredmethodsinconfigu‐
rationssupportingredundantSixViewManagerservers.
EnterAccessInterval(minutes)(Required):EnterthenumberofminutestheSixViewManagerClientprocessshould
waitbeforeconnectingtotheSixViewManagerserver.Avalueof220is
suggestedforCellularcarriersthatusean
inactivitytimeoutoffourhours.
Note:WhilelowervaluescanresultinmoretimelystatusreportswiththeSixViewManagerServer,itcomesatan
expenseofincreaseddatatraf fic,whichmaybeanissuewhentheconnectionutilizesacellularmodemwith
aservice
planwherecostisbasedonbandwidthusage.Avalueof220issuggestedforCellularcarriersthatuseaninactivity
timeoutoffourhours.
EnterErrorInterval(minutes)(Required):EnterthenumberofminutestheSixViewManagerclientshouldwait
befor ere‐attemptingapreviouslyfailedcheck‐in
attempt.Therecommendedsettingforthisfieldis30.
SelectAccessMethod:SelectthedesiredAccessMethodfromtheprovideddrop‐down.Therearetwo(2)access
methods:
•Unencrypted(http):Faster,butlesssecure.
• Encrypted(https):Slower,butmoresecure.
Notethattheencryptedmethodaddssignificantoverheadwhichmaybeaconsiderationwhenusingacellular
modemconnection.Forexample,ifanipsec_restartisanoption,thenwhenselected,willberunwheneverthefall‐
backlogicselectsandactivatesthisinterface.
EnterSixViewManagerServerPort#(Required):If
theSixViewManagerServerhasbeenconfiguredtoacceptcon‐
nectionsonaportotherthanitsstandarddefault,thatcustomportnumbershouldbeenteredinthisfield.The
administratoroftheSixViewManagerServerwillbeabletoprovideyouwiththenecessaryinformationtoproperly
setthisparameter.
Therecommendedsettingforthisfieldis18080.
SelectInterface:SelectthenameoftheinterfacetowhichtheSixViewManagerClientwillbindforcommunications
withtheSixViewManagerServer.TherecommendedsettingforthisfieldisNone.
Note:ThisoptionwillonlybenecessaryiftheSixViewManagerClient
isrequiredtocommunicatethroughaconfig‐
uredIPSEC,GREorIPIPtunnel.
