Cellular Configuration
Asshown,therouterisreceivinggoodsignalfromthecellularnetwork,itisconnectedandhasbeenissuedanIPaddress.
Atthispoint,ifyoupreviouslyverifiedthattheSIM/ModuleisactivatedandhavebeenaccessingthewebUItoconfigure
yourRedLioninterfaceviait’sbrowser,you
shouldbeabletoaccesstheInternet.
• OpenabrowseronthePC/Laptop,andattempttobrowsetheInternet.
NOTE:Dependingontheprovisioningofyourmodule/SIM,particularlyincorporateapplicationsinwhichtheunitispro‐
vidingcellularbackupconnectivitytowiredcircuits,yourmodule/SIMmayberestrictedfromInternet
access.Ifthisisthe
case,youmaywanttotesttoensurethatyouareable toaccessyourcorporatenetwork.Ifyouhaveanyquestionsabout

2.1.5.1 CellularReception
Beforewegetintospecificsregardinghowtoidentifyandaddressspecificproblemsthatcanbeencountered,itisimpor‐
tantthatwespendamomenttalkingaboutcellularsignalreception,andappropriateexpectations.
Allofthemajorcellularcarriersexpendsignificantsumsinsuringthatwehaveexcellentsignalcoveragewithin
theircover‐
ageareas.However,theyhavenocontrolovertheenvironmentsinwhichweattempttoplaceoruseourcellulardevices.
Theprinciplesbehindcellulardatareceptionaresimilartocellularphonereception.Therefore,ourenvironmenthasthe
potentialtosignificantlyimpactourabilitytoreceiveagoodquality
cellularsignal.
Youshouldbeawarethatitispossibletostandintheparkinglotofabuildingandhaveperfectreception,butwalkjust10
feetinsideaconcreteandsteelbuildingandhaveabsolutelynoreceptionatall.
Theimportantthingtounderstandisthatinmany,many
instancesitisnotthecellularnetworkthatcausesreception
problems,buttheenvironmentinwhichweplaceourcellulardevices.

Forthisreason,RedLionstronglyrecommendstheuseofexternalantennaswhenimplementingcellulardata.Itisoften
