It’s an easy, no nonsense design that will suit his
rustic sense of style.
Throw measures 41” x 50” (104 cm x 127
cm)
Notes
1. The chain-2 at the beginning of each
row of the Blanket does not count as a
separate stitch.
2. The chain-3 at the beginning of each
round of the Border counts as a double
crochet.
3. Either side can be the Right Side.
BLANKET
With A, ch 127.
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook (skipped chs
are not counted as a st), dc in next 4 ch, *ch
1, skip 1 ch, [dc, ch 1, skip 1 ch] twice, dc in
next 5 ch; repeat from * across; turn—125
dc.
Rows 2-70: Ch 2 (not counted as a st), dc
in first 5 dc, *ch 1, skip 1 ch, [dc, ch 1, skip
1 ch] twice, dc in next 5 dc; repeat from *
across; turn—125 sts. Fasten off A at end of
last row. Do not turn.
BORDER
Rotate Blanket to work across ends of rows.
Border is worked in rounds.
Round 1: Join B in side of last st made. Ch
4 (counts as dc, ch 1), (dc, ch 1) into side
of next row and each row across; working
across opposite side of foundation ch, (dc,
ch 3, dc) in first ch, ch 1, skip 1 ch, *dc, ch
1, skip 1 ch; repeat from * across to last ch,
(dc, ch 3, dc) in last ch; working in ends of
rows of other side, ch 1, (dc, ch 1) into side
of each row across; working across top edge,
(dc, ch 3, dc) in first dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc,*dc,
ch 1, skip 1 dc; repeat from * across to last
dc, (dc, ch 3, dc) in last dc; ch 1, slip st in top
of ch-3 to join.
Round 2: Slip st into first ch-1 space, ch
3 (counts as dc), dc into same space
(beginning shell made), *2 dc into next ch-1
space (shell made) and into each ch-1 space
across to corner, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) into ch-3
space; repeat from * 3 times; 2 dc into last
ch-1 space, slip st in top of ch-3 to join.
Round 3: Slip st in top of next dc and
between shells, ch 4 (counts as dc, ch
1), *dc between next 2 shells, ch 1; repeat
from * across to corner, (dc, ch 4, dc) into
ch-3 space, ch 1; repeat from * 3 times; [dc
between next 2 shells, ch 1] twice, slip st in
top of ch-3 to join.
Round 4: Slip st into first ch-1 space, ch 3
(counts as dc), dc into same space; *2 dc
into next ch-1 space and each ch-1 space
across to corner, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) into ch-4
space; repeat from * 3 times; [2 dc into next
ch-1 space] 3 times, slip st in top of ch-3 to
join. Fasten off B; weave in loose ends.
