14. If you did not enable the use of all protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, etc.)
when you installed the Sun Java System Web Proxy Server, you may
choose to do so now. For instructions, see the documentation for your
version of the Web Proxy Server.
15. If you are using version 4.0 of the Sun Java System Web Proxy Server,
additional configuration is required to integrate with a directory service
for user- and group-based access control. For instructions, see Integrating
Web Proxy Server 4.0 with a Directory Service, page 211.
Installing Websense Software on a Separate Machine
When you install the Websense Filtering Service on a machine separate from
the Sun Java System Web Proxy Server, you must subsequently install the Sun
Web Proxy Plug-in on the Sun Java System Web Proxy Server machine.
Instructions for installing the Sun Web Proxy Plug-in are given in Installing
the Sun Web Proxy Plug-in on the Web Proxy Server Machine, page 94.
Follow the procedures in this section to install Websense Enterprise or Web
Security Suite on a Solaris or Linux machine. These procedures are for a
Typical installation, in which the main Websense filtering components are
installed on the same machine.
If you plan to distribute the main Websense components on separate machines
in your network, you must install Policy Server first. Only Websense Manager
can be installed before Policy Server has been successfully installed. To install
components separately, run the Websense installer on each machine and select a
Custom installation. For instructions to install Websense components
separately, see Installing Websense Components Separately, page 99.
If you decide to change the location of a Websense component, add a
component, or remove a component, run the Websense installer again on the
