iSCSI Support
New to the Sun StorageTek CAM software in release 6.0.1 is Internet Small
Computer Systems Interface (iSCSI) support for the Sun StorageTek 2510 storage
system. Initiators are the clients of the iSCSI interface, issuing requests for services
from components or logical units called targets. One iSCSI target is supported per
array.7
The iSCSI port is used for communication between the iSCSI initiator and the iSCSI
target. The array supports two iSCSI ports per controller, for a total of four per array.
An iSCSI session consists of up to four connections between an initiator and its
target. The iSCSI initiator and target send and receive data over an Ethernet
connection, using the SCSI protocol. Across all connections within a session, an
initiator sees the same target. Multiple initiators may be connected to the iSCSI
target.
Note For initial installation and configuration of iSCSI on the 2510, see the Sun
StorageTek 2500 Series Array Installation Guide.
Note For the complete list of drives, refer to Table 5 in the Sun StorageTek 2500
Series Array Release Notes, Version 1.3.
