Introduction to Pramati Server
Administration Service
Pramati Server is configured and started using the Server Administration Service. The
service equips you to:
• Discover various Server instances running on the sub-net through a discovery
mechanism based on User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
• Configure and start:
•Standalone Server
• J2EE Server Cluster
•Message Server
•Message Server Cluster
•Load Balancer
Role of Administration Service
The Server Administration Service (Admin Service) enables you to configure, start and
connect to any Server in the LAN. This is a Standalone Java program that can be configured
as a Windows NT Service or a Unix daemon and is available at system startup. You can
operate the Server through a browser or from the command line using Admin Service as a
gateway.
This service is required to start and connect to a:
• Cluster node configured on a remote host
• Standalone server instance
Admin Service should be started on every computer on which you want to configure, start,
or manage servers. This facilitates remote accessibility and communication with the Remote
Administration Services (RAS).
You should provide the correct username and password for using the Service. Only those
administration services that have the same username and password can communicate with
each other. The Service starts by discovering Pramati Servers that are running on the LAN.
These Servers are displayed in the browser along with their respective URLs.
Admin Service is shipped and installed as a standard server component in the same
installation directory as the Server. A set of batch files and shell scripts is provided to install
the startup service separately on Windows NT and Unix platforms.
Note: The Service runs on port 4748. To initialize the Service, it is essential to keep the port open
at all times.
